Ebay UK and Ireland - you beeeeeeeeep!!!!!
on: August 22, 2013, 02:52:16 PM
How bizzarre that ebay allowed me to order a black alox Farmer from Italy, a couple of days ago, but refused my bid on this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Multi-function-knife-VICTORINOX-100-anniversary-model-/310724164622

earlier. I wanted to bid higher than the end price, too!    :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

You know, if you people in the UK would just grow up and treat pointy things responsibly then you'd be allowed to buy sharp items....  :pok:

Seriously, if I were you I'd want to find the jackass that made the decision to remove all knife purchases from the UK and beat him silly with a a stocking full of soap.  But, that's just me.

Stocking and soap, eh? Well, certainly classier than plain ol' sock and soap :D

Actually, you're right on both points.

I had to hunt around to find that one, but plenty of American SAK auctions pop up on a search, which makes me think "WTF?!?!".

Watchdog did an episode of its program on TV about ebay selling knives to people under 18...that was the catalyst for ending knife sales on UK ebay ::)

frjack I'm guessing you had trouble with that auction because its in the US...I've bought knives from ebay Europe and had no problems getting them delivered ;)

Here in the UK we do have a problem with knife crime especially with NED's (Non Educated Delinquents) but statistically most knife crimes are committed with kitchen knives.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Here in the UK we do have a problem with knife crime especially with NED's (Non Educated Delinquents) but statistically most knife crimes are committed with kitchen knives.

The black Farmer, I successfully ordered, was from Italy. The 100 year Spartan, I wasn't allowed to bid on, was in Finland.

As for Watchdog... They do some good things, but other times they screw up, royally. How come I can still buy knives everywhere else, apart from ebay? Bloody pointless. Anyone can lie their way past the age checks. And in any case, why did ebay also ban the sale of those items that are perfectly legal to carry, i.e. sub 3" slipjoints? Pilloxing idiots!  :viking: :poh:

As for neds with knives; I put them in the same boat as crims with guns. The way to combat them is to arm everyone over 18. Compulsory open carry at all times. Society would become awfully polite in short order, the crims can shoot each other, suicides can get on with it and we have a degree of population control.

Another advantage is that politicians would have to do better and avoid pissing people off, or they'd get what they so richly deserve...  :2tu:
