One of the main reasons I EDC a Benchmade Triage is for the cutting hook. It's great for cutting zip ties. The hook wedges into tightly packed wires, cuts the cable tye and doesn't risk damaging the wires.
Today I decided to see if the KERT would make a good back up zip tye cutter. Not surprisingly, it was fantastic! I chose a medium thickness tye that was used on a stored, unplugged computer power cable. With the keys as a handle extension, the KERT hook easily slipped into the cable bundle and sliced through the tye with very little effort.
Now for those times when I need/want to carry a different pocket knife I have a safe and effective cable tye cutter.
