If you want to buy something SAK-like from another maker, I think the Boker Tech-Tools are a better idea. They bring more to the table as a Vic alternative, in my opinion.

They are fine.

There are at least 3 threads on them, where you can get a variety of opinions.

Seeing fake RescueTools is especially harrowing, their metal is extremely poor quality and the saw and belt cutter are often impossible to open, really sad to think that someone would mistakenly bet someone's life against the functionality of such fake.

The Phillips screw driver is wrong, and if you look closely you'll see the back liners are cut away.

As well as that, T&T on wrong end and the blade has no opposite tool.

Here's the photo I sent the seller . . . marked up with all the discrepancies I could fit onto it. Also sent the seller a photo of my older (Can Key) Super Tinker with black "reverse" scales as comparison.

Two things that are not problems:
  • End of hook not visible on back layer; could be old stock made prior to hook being added under the scissors
  • Victorinox logo on back scales; unusual, but Victorinox put "reverse" scales on 91mm knives as an option to allow for imprinting of corporate logos and marketing on the front scales. My Super Tinker with reverse scales has no imprinting on the front, however I've got a red Tinker with reverse scales and the corporate logo on its front consumes all available "real estate" leaving no room for a Vic logo. On 84mm, they typically used "sterile" scales without a Vic logo on the back side if the customer didn't want it on the front side.
Two more discrepancies not noted on the photo:
  • Spine/edge with nail nick on the awl should be visible below the Phillips.
  • End of the scissors with its nail nick should show above the large blade spine near its pivot.

RescueTool is probably the most faked SAK out there, with even some quite real looking ones. I personally wouldn't buy one on eBay if not from a seller with very good reputation.

I recently put an end to some local auctions of fake SAKs where the guy selling them used stock images from Victorinox as the first picture but had photos showing the cheap Chinese knives he really had for sale. The auctions were taken down less than a day after reporting them so it seems it worked.

Sadly it's not really possible to report unreasonably priced cheap imitations that don't really go as far as showing the Victorinox logotype.

This one needs some extra reporting. Ebay has done nothing, and the seller is aware it is a fake. Last time it was up I asked for a photo of the wenger knife for sale, not the chinese POS pictured. Sale was taken down by the seller, now it's back

A friend just bought this knife and asked for my help in identifying this... It looks like a Wenger Traveler but couldn't match the tang stamp and scale cross with Ullie's Wenger sheet..Can anyone tell if this is legit or not?

So now they know how to make better fake ones.

I'm sick of eBay. They keep ignoring me. Have reported so many items...
