DIY mini marlin spike.

I had this stick of grade 5 titanium that needed to become something. My quest for a Ti key ring is now closer to complete.

8 degree taper on a ~2.5", 1.4" rod.



It lives on my keys now :)

It's actually super light, 100 grams!! It's completely tsa and airline friendly as well!

The big split rings are Ti, the small ones aren't :)

Now you only need the Ti nail clippers and tweezers. ;) (I know you got the Ti tweezers but Uncle Bill's are simply the best, right?  :D )

I used a little 7x9 lathe with a carbide insert cutting tool. The cross feed was set to 8 degrees and I used lots of oil and went slowly on layers. Ti machines oddly, you have to go quicker than stainless but you also have to watch if it galls too quickly.

Oddly enough I was using the Ti tweezers yesterday and notice they deformed really easily. I had to bend them a bit to get the tweezers effect and get them to stay in the holder.

I didn't make the bead, got it with a pocket tool that came in.

As for clippers....that's a whole other bag of tricks.
