Two questions about the Surge
on: July 02, 2013, 12:27:49 PM
I have two questions about the Surge
1) It needs some tightening but I only have one safety Torx set. You need to counter rotate the opposite screw to tighten it, as you know. Could I remove the central pin with my Dremel (and use normal bits) or maybe just buy a second set of safety Torx bits?
2) Is there a nice way to keep a Leatherman carabiner in the pouch? I need the hex driver to tighten or loose screws with the driver extension. Or I might use an MTO challenge coin when the working one finally arrives. But I like the carabiner and I just bought a second one, not being able to put it in the seath or hanging it. Any idea?

#1 My opinion would be to buy another set of bits. 98% of the time my motto is "Do it right or don't do it at all".  Besides you might later regret hacking away at your MT (especially if that Dremel Tool skips and runs a gouge all the way down the MT) and I'll almost guarantee you'll have another occasion to use the 2nd set of bits.

#2 This would work if you have the Sheath for the surge.  It sits deep enough too so it will not scratch the MT, assuming that kind of thing would bother you.

I love my  Surge. I have the  seath obonaven and thanks, but I keep the saw blades and a bit kit there in the pocket (and a second one behind).
I am thinking about sewing a loop somewhere.

One night last winter I got pissed and removed the center pin on my wave pivots using a mechanics pick and sog PPP. It wasn't too bad.

I did it to my Wave screws, just use a 1/16" burr and a steady hand. No problem!
