I have two LM Pulse's in my collection.. I really like the tool, but I'd rather carry a heavy duty one.. I feel that for the extra couple ounces it's worth having a saw, awl, and the like!

I carry my Pulse from time to time. Very nice tool. :)

My only gripe might be the locks. I actually think they're neat, and effective, but they're kinda rough to use. But that's only really a problem if I'd be switching between tools on a "real job". So as an EDC tool that's not a problem.

The locks are how you say "different" but once you get use to them and get them broken in a bit I find them quite easy to use ;) Wonder who came up with that design anyway  ???

I'm curious too... Looks like quite a bit of problem solving and ingenuity went into them.

I mentioned my "problems" with them, but in some ways they're my favorite locks so far- solid, reliable, yet a little gimicky (in the cool way) and lots of fiddling goodness.

Yeah at least they do lock good :D I think that they should change the locking system to something similar to the one that is on the Blast or the Wave and bring the Pulse back into production unchanged otherwise  :gimme: :D

I have had the Pulse 2 days , I have not used it in anger but have handled it a lot  whilst watching TV ::) . The locks are a bit kooky , but so am I  :D. I think from the look of it the file it might be LM's best, the diamond side is very fine & I have one with the groove down the middle , a great feature. It is definitely coming away OS with me .

Hey MM what's the date on your Pulse also did you get Windows version or one without logos :)

Ponch the Pulses birthday is 1100, BTW has any one had luck removing the Windows print (my one has it) .I have read elsewhere you can use a Dremal to remove Logos  .I wonder if Microsoft actually used any of these , I do not think they did , the way sellers seem to have bought them in lots IMO.

I bought an eraeser. you can get them from smokey mountain knives. it took the logo right off.

Can you describe this "eraser"?  I also have a Pulse with that Microsoft Windows Server 2003 imprint and want it removed.

The eraser is just a small rubbery like sanding block about 3 1/4 inch X 1 inch X 1/2 inch

the 1 I have is Stanley brand but there are others just as good ;)

just type in "rust eraser" on Ebay and you can find a few different ones

or click this ::)

Well I did use the rust eraser a little bit on the Pulse the Windows logo is now only visible very faintly which now isn't dark enough to see unless you really pay attention  ;) The surface of the Pulse still looks great the eraser is intended for rust so it is meant to shine up metal not really to scratch  although looking @ it just now it has dulled it from it's showroom shine ::) :D still looks great though :)

I just wanted to resurrect this thread to say how much I'm enjoying the Pulse I got in trade from Spoonrobot.  I have been carrying it the past couple of days, and it has served me well.  With the excellent file and scissors, I think it is the perfect companion to a Victorinox Farmer.  It seems that I have all of the bases covered between the two tools:

The Farmer has what the Pulse is missing: saw, awl
The Pulse has what the Farmer is missing: scissors, phillips driver

That's cool Terry - glad you're enjoying it.

You like the locks on the Pulse? It seems to be one of those love or hate things.

I used to come here a lot.

Yes--I think they work very well, and they don't get in the way of my grip as some have mentioned.  I have three Leathermans now with those locks: a stainless Super Tool 200, a BO Super Tool 200, and this Pulse.  Only one of the six locks sometimes sticks a bit (on the stainless ST200), and it seems to be getting better as I use it.  The ones on the Pulse are the easiest of all to operate, since the locking spring isn't nearly as large as the ones on the ST200.

The lock rockers aren't perfect, but along with the rolled handle edges I think they were a worthy upgrade from the PST II to the Pulse and from the Super Tool to the Super Tool 200.

With that said, I can understand why sissies with weak thumbs might not like the locks.  :pok:  :D

It wasn't the difficulty of their release really, it was just everything else.  :D

What makes you think I was talking about you?  :D

I know that you mentioned that they dug into your palms a bit when using the tool.  I don't seem to have that issue, but I could definitely see that it could be a concern.

TBH, it wasn't all the time, only in some positions.  But it was enough for me to part with it anyway.

Your thoughts are a bit like mine then Terry. I quite like the locks (or at least they don't bother me) and they work well.

I agree also that the same locks on the ST200 can be real awkward, but on the Pulse are pretty easy to shift.

I used to come here a lot.

Yep.  I also find that the finish of the BO Super Tool 200 gives better grip on the locks than the plain stainless finished one.  I suppose this benefit will be reduced as the BO wears off of the locks.

Glad to see others out there still liking the Pulse    I don't have an ST200 but the locks still really don't bother me either ::) I love how small it is compared to the new line of locking LM like the Kick, Fuse and Blast series has quite a few tools yet still has that compact feeling of the PST with locks and I love the diamond file :ahhh :D :D :D

I'm with you.  IMO, the size, the tool selection, the file and the fact that it locks are the Pulse's greatest assets.  This is my first LM diamond file, and I see now why everyone raves about it.  I used it to square off my Farmer's drivers yesterday, and I couldn't believe how easily it cut!

The Pulse doesn't have as many tools as, say, the Victorinox Spirit, but it's also smaller and lighter.  It is an excellent match to a heavy-duty SAK like the Farmer or OHT.
