Lets talk pocket clips.

So I have noticed quite a few comments from random reviews to forums and so on about people saying there Knife/Light/MT came with a pocket clip that was to tight. I feel like i'm the only one who want's all my pocket clips on any item I carry to be very tight on my pocket. I have never had a pocket clip so tight I could not get it into or out of the clipped position. I have tried to do it on many knives by bending the clip so it will offer maximum "push" to the knife, but its just never to tight. Anyone else like this?

I like my pocket clips tight, but I do have some pants with thick seems at the pockets, which make it harder to clip something on. Usually, I don't have much of a problem with it, though, as long as the tip of the clip is far away enough from the body of the tool or knife to allow for the fabric to get between it.


I do have one foldable box cutter knife with which the thumb stud or other parts of the knife catch on my pocket as I clip it, so that's annoying, but I didn't  find that in other knives, yet.

I have to agree, iv never had a clip too tight. I like it when I kind of have to work a bit to get a clip over the seam on my jeans pocket. That way I know there's less chance of it sliding off. I made a dangler for my keys that is just too loose. It's Ok at best on jeans but has no grip at all on shorts or dress pants. I think it's time to find another spoon and try again.

I have never had a clip that was too tight. However I have had problems where the clip wasn't angled outward at the end enough, making it difficult to slip on.

I'm not a big user of pocket clips, but I think there must be an optimal level of tightness (which would vary depending on the clothing worn).  Too loose and it would slide around and not grip.  Too tight and it would be unnecessarily slow/difficult to get on and off the edge of a pocket.

The clip on my multi is good on my jeans but so loose on a pair of my shorts it slides out of my pocket. So I avoid those shorts. 
The only thing on a pocket clip that gets me in trouble is the bend on the end. It seems I always manage to rub against some thing and scratch it. But I do not know how to avoid that.
So need less to say I to like tight clips.

most clips come to tight for jeans but just right for thinner dress/cargo pants.

I like a tight stiff clip.

Same here for me.  I don't like to fiddle with/struggle to get the clip back on my pocket.  My Crater's clip is just right.  It seems secure, but I can slide it right back onto my pocket without have to use both hands with my left holding the pocket edge in place while using my right to try to slide the clip over the edge.  That was always an issue with the Leatherman Wave/Charge clips, but now I don't carry them that way anyway.  The Freestyle's clip worked like the Crater's, but it comes loose after a little while.

I agree that tighter is better when it comes to clips.  One thing I'm not crazy about is clip designs that flare out at the end too much.  A bit is fine to help the knife onto the edge of the pocket.  However, I tend to work in rather cramped conditions in the back of my store.  Too many things that an extended flare can get hung up on and pull the clip.  I have a Kershaw Blur that that happened to, and I haven't been able to bend it back to the point that it works well.    My other Blur must be an older one, because it actually has a different design where the end doesn't stick out as much.

I like mine just right for jeans. I make it just tight enough that it doesn't move. So yeah tight is good.
