Early Multi-plier and price feeler

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum. My association with multitools dates back to 1999 when I bought a Leatherman Micra that I have owned ever since as my only one. As you can see nothing memorable.

Recently I obtained an early production Gerber Multi-plier through a friend of mine who got it from a estate. This tool is in pristine condition and it appears to be unused. It did not come with a sheath so I ordered a new one from Gerber which is of course of current production. That would be the only “unoriginal” component of this tool.

I am not sure of the production date but based on my research I would say 1997 or earlier.

Since I am not a collector, I have decided to sell it and get a current production model (not sure which model yet). Can anybody give me a price feeler for it?

I really have no idea, but I just wanted to say that thing looks amazing, really good shape.

Welcome aboard to MTo. This is a great place to hang out and find useful info.

These (and other early Gerbers) come up on eBay fairly often, so it might be worth looking there for some idea of price (use the advanced search and tick the completed and sold listings to see what stuff has previously sold for). I've seen similar Gerbers being offered for $43 - $75 as Buy-It-Now but no takers.

I bought a very early "First Production Run" Gerber MT (the original "production" Gerber MT and predecessor to the one you have) in unused condition for $48.00 to give you a rough idea. These early Gerbers seem to be both more common and less sought after by collectors compared with early Leatherman PSTs for example; and this is reflected in the prices they sell for.
