DAMN Medical system!!!!

Of the 2 CX Skeletools, The one I got from EDC Depot Ihave given it a MISSION SPECIFIC JOB(The one from Felinevet Tim is now my EDC)!

Due to the fact that I tried to dispose of my used insulin needles in the proper-LEGAL way. BUT My doctor,the local hospital, the local pharmacies, even a needle exchange kiosk(in Philly) refused to accept them. ANd they have given me every chickensh*t exscuse why the can't:"It's too expensive to dispose...................it's not our job................you're not a heroine addict(NOTE:that was the kiosk. What the hell? AT least I would have put the $30.00 to good use,a new LM Micra)"

OK! Be a**holes, have it your way!!

Still, I want to make sure my used needles DON'T fall into the hands of some junkie(s).!!!!

So the EDC Depot CX is kept with my insulin supplies. When I am through with the needle(s), before I through them in the trashcan(YES!! I am breaking the law!!

) The pliers on the CX get deployed to SNAP the metal tips, at the base of each needle!! So the needles are USELESS!!!

If you can't work within the system. %*&# the system, and use your Leatherman!

I speak out of ignorance, so ignore this if it's dumb.

Would it help to screw off the needles of the syringes and encase them in epoxy? I mean by this maybe you'd collect a couple dozen of the needles and just pour some epoxy resin into a little yogurt cup. They'd be rendered totally unuseable, and any pathogens in solution would be neutralized. Then you could take the plastic parts of the syringes and melt them in a lead pot, or just sterilize them in alcohol before crushing them, and then tossing them in the ol memory hole?

Ever seen a heroine needle?? Looks like the crossbow drug dart used in the OLD WIld Kingdom TV shows. The same crossbow drug dart used to drop an elephant

I'm pretty sure there is no way to satisfy the authorities other than turning them in somewhere to be autoclaved and disposed of in a hazmat bag. They don't make it easy do they?

The sharps were always the hardest thing to dispose of in the lab. They have to be cut, steam sterilized under 15psi for 30 minutes or they aren't considered sterilized.

Maybe start making guerilla trips to the hospital and sneaking in the empty rooms and using the sharps disposal boxes is your best bet!

Everyone precribed insulin ought to be provided with an easy disposal box somehow. There's probably 20 million insulin needles disposed of everyday.

The only other thing I can think of is start working on a little forge. Snap the needles off and make a nice billet you can grind a blade out of!

20 million needles?!? Are needles made of strainless steel? Somebody have to figure out a way to recycle and make money with those.

That's not a bad idea- multitools made from recycled sharps! I'm sure the forging process would do away with any nasty bugs that may live in the needles!

I actually have a buddy that is doing the same thing you are. It seems here in Ma. It is the same old story. Just dump them. However he came up with a very novel Idea to keep from sticking himself with the needle part after dumping them. He sticks the needle into a small nerf football and then cuts the needle. This way he says he dont feel that bad sticking his needles in the trash, and possibly sticking the trash dude.
