Mythbusters at San Diego Comic-Con (NERDGASM!)
on: July 23, 2013, 06:13:18 PM
Before I post the videos below, I have to say that I'm a geek. I read comics. I watch at least a few episodes of every cheap-smurf scifi/fantasy series that comes out. In the early 90's, I gave a go at small press comics, and have published material for pencil-and-paper style role playing games. I watch Dr. Who, and HAVE watched Dr. Who since Tom Baker's run (I'm not just one of these reboot folks). I make 3d computer models of starships.

I believe my geek-cred is solid.

I am not just a fan of the show Mythbusters. I have a profound respect for ANYONE who can bring enthusiasm to the process of discovery. A life spent getting people interested in science (and admittedly, blowing stuff up) is a life well spent.

Here is the Mythbusters 2013 discussion panel, hosted by Will Wheaton (a guy who has embraced his geekness).

As a follow-up to that, here's a discussion Adam has about his con experience. Any discussion where you get to mention Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, and Nathan Fillion is almost the geek-trifecta.

In that above posted video, Adam also mentions 2 bands that played. One is 'Paul and Storm' who play a song called 'Write Like the Wind', about George R. R. Martin writing the 'Song of Ice and Fire' books (maybe better known as 'Game of Thrones') faster.

And a second band called 'Garfunkel and Oates'. Here's one of their songs. As mentioned by Adam, they are NOT SAFE FOR WORK! If you are easily offended, DO NOT click on this video. If you have an insanely sick sense of humor, feel free to continue, but YOU ARE WARNED!!!

The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Now I cant get that song out of my head. Im walking around humming the chorus at work. Thats not a very good idea when you work at a construction site surrounded by slightly homophobic men...   :ahhh

I could see how that might cause issues.
