camping mt/sak ?
on: July 29, 2013, 03:22:59 PM
I'm off with my family camping in the new forest on wed, usually i take my trusty wave ,but I've more choice now  so its between my og wave,108mm gak,oho gak,or swisschamp  I'm thinking swisschamp and possibly my kick in my organizer as back up pliers, :ahhh what do you guys think, possibly the oho gak is a bit scary   for a family camp site  :D

Wave Goodbye.
You'll need a blade, a saw, and tweezers.  Scissors.  Maybe a can opener and corkscrew.
Don't forget the matches and "torch".  Spoon and bowl?

Remember that for any common person (i.e. not multitool geek  :D ) a red and big victorinox is the coolest thing ever, so the swiss champ will work AND make you look cool to everyone :multi:

If you are at a family camp site I'd go with the SwissChamp.  As Taxi Dad says; they really are the coolest things ever. 8)

I'm in the minority...I would take the 108mm GAK...of course, I just got one and am obsessing over it...

Id bring the champ, and put the wave in the glovebox in case you need a good pair of pliers.

Take the biggest most inappropriate tools you can. When Angie asks for the can opener, hand her a Khukri. Kids crayons need sharpening, choke up on the axe handle. The image of the big shaved headded geezer covered in tatoos with the big smurf off knives will enure the tent remains untouched when you go to the chippy  :P :D :D :D

Though in all seriousness, I'd take the Swisschamp AND the Wave. Keep the ever friendly Vic in the pocket, but have the Wave to hand for anything unforeseen  :tu:

When in doubt, carry all.

Personally, I'd take the SAK.  In outdoor setting, I find the weight/tools ratio and relevance of tools for SAK is just superb.

Awesome, happy camping! :D

On SAK, I usually mod/grind flat(a little only) the underside of the cap lifter for ferro rod scrapping, it works like a charm.
