Toughbuilt F180 compact bolt cutters.
on: August 05, 2013, 11:30:37 PM
These awesome folding bolt cutters were on sale this weekend and I had to get a pair. These are the middle versions, 18". There is a smaller 14 and larger 24. I wanted/needed to cut all the exposed screws on the underside of the roof on my newly constructed carport.

Is it wrong that I want to mod them into a bad arse multitool? Haha

I mean...the handle is a 3/4 pipe. So many things can go into it!!

I got them at Canadian Tire, I am not sure where they can be found stateside. I should of asked Mom and Pop to look out for them at Mennard's, they were in North Dakota shopping yesterday.

I had to loosen all the pivots a 1/8th of a turn and use some lube and now they slide around perfectly.

Like, I said, Canadian Tire :)

Try out the 24" ones, I bet they would be very nice in a truck. The 18" ones are nice for a portable demo kit (which I have...don't ask, I do it a lot). I am thinking the 14" ones wouldn't be as effective, but then again, I've never had a pair of bolt cutters before.

They are on sale NOW (at least from the long weekend), I think they were $29.99

It would have to be paired with at LEAST a 2" duty belt. It would be more like those emergency shovel or Entrenching tool deals.

They were out of the 14" ones otherwise is would of for both...or all three. I bet the smallest ones would be bad arse in butt pack burglar kit haha.

The reason I need them is this- several times a week I have to inspect the securing in some containers. The dockyard only has one pair of bolt cutters- they had more, but tools like that tend to walk off on their own.

Anyways, almost every time I do that I lose twenty minutes to half an hour as the labor tries to find the bolt cutters.  I could cut that down significantly by just having a set with me.

Damn it! I was going to get one when I saw the flier but forgot, missed the extra 15% weekend sale.  :-[

Is it weird I already have a few pairs of non folding bolt cutter yet I still want this one?   ::)

If there is a choice between folding and non folding, I always go for folding.

Nothing wrong with it. One can never have enough things to cut other things.

Folding pruning saw is a bit too big to fit, a few hacksaw blade and a perhaps a tube frame though, I think very doable.

It's gotta be removable. It's just a thought. I doubt I'll do anything, they have enough street cred without be massaging them.

So why can't this be scaled down to the size of a large MT (e.g. swisstool, surge, ST300)?

There's also the super-bad-a$$ 36 inchers:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/T...0&hash=item2a2fa097fd

Oooooo the only ones there were the 18". The rest were out of stock but WHOA 36" foldable ones would kick butt.

I am still contemplating the smaller ones if I can find them.
