I'm sure that even astronauts get calls from their wives reminding them to pick up milk on their way home. Def
I've never felt the need
Quote from: Cupboard on August 18, 2013, 10:29:10 AMI've never felt the need "Need" often has little to do with what we carry. I don't really need the Swisstool Spirit in my pocket, or the Benchmade 710, as my Victorinox Compact has things pretty much covered. I also don't "need" the Sharpie that I always carry, or the Fox 40 Micro whistle that I used to carry for many years. I have carried a gun for 20 years, and have never needed it. And I pray that I never will need it.We often carry these things because the sense of preparedness makes us feel good. Its a small way of exerting some perceived control over our environment in an otherwise chaotic and uncontrollable world. We can't stop the civil war in Egypt, but we can dang sure be prepared for that loose phillips screw or that bolt that needs to be tightened. This is just my take on things. If we really thought we needed a tactical pen, kubotan or other self-defense tool, we would avoid going to that place to begin with. Its all about dealing with the "what if" factor, with taking seriously our responsibilities to protect ourselves and our families, and making ourselves feel good in the process. Human psychology is the foundation for most of our MT and related addictions. Its all about feeling good. Some guys anesthetize themselves with booze, drugs, porn or golf clubs, and we do with with MTs, knives, lights and tactical pens.Moderators, please place this post directly in the MTO Hall of Fame. Thanks.
Seriously, my pen of choice is my Fisher Bullet. It's perhaps the only pen I have had long enough to use an entire cartridge, and in fact I actually have two bullets and both have been through multiple cartridges. I write a lot of notes at work and the Bullets are great.Def
You can't argue with a company that looks after their customers that well. Def
Maybe I'm naive or maybe the US is a particularly dangerous place but I've never felt the need to carry a weapon with me in the UK or anywhere else I've visited. That includes alone, at night in dark and deserted areas of a city.
I have the cold steel Shark pen. However the fact that it looks like an erotic toy stops me from carrying it (and makes me wonder whether it is bought mainly by men or women )
I also carry a Fisher Bullet Space Pen everywhere I go. It's the best pen I've ever had and it writes great. I've had it for several years now and the coating has held up and I'm still on the original cartridge!
