I've never heard of the other Suspensions other than the BG and the Evo tool.

Well, most of you know that I like a lot of Gerber's MTs, even some that others think are horrible, but I'm sorry to say that I do think the Suspension in all it's different guises is pretty poo. :-\  In fairness I believe the designers at Gerber tend to agree with us. ;)

Look at the market it's aimed at as well, better than a $5 no-brand knock-off (which it is IMO), yet cheaper than any full sized Leatherman until the arrival of the Wingman.  So it's wasn't meant to be the best, it was meant to fill a gap in the market, which it did very well.

It's a whole lot better than nothing IMO.  It's just not a MT I want to own.

I'm an unabashed capitalist (albeit a somewhat failed one) and I believe in filling a market gap.  But what I don't like is someone peeing on my head and telling me it's raining, and IMO that's what Gerber does with some of it's lower quality tools.  Specially the Bear Grylls junk and over the top marketing hype that accompanies it like stink on a meadow muffin.

But of course, they're not the only one's that do it.  Just the most blatant with the BG garbage.

I must admit I'm a Gerber fan, but not a fan of the BG branding. I have bought one of the tools to try (the modified Strata pack)and in fairness it wasn't bad, but I've avoided the rest .... so far. I'm not going to call it all junk necessarily as much of it I haven't tried, but I will say gawdy and overhyped

BG is my hero. ;) I mean, who else could star in a promo video for his Ultimate Multitool and explain how other multitools have all these things you don't need. The BG Ultimate tool has a selection of drivers that anyone would need in a survival situation.

I fiddled with a Suspension, and decided it was not worth the money. It seems to be the crappy design on which most knock-offs are now based. Which perplexes me greatly.

I have $10 tools that impressed me more than the Suspension. In fact, I have PST knock-offs I like better.

The Wingman is a better tool compared to the Suspension.

That said, I would have bought it at $14 (the price posted earlier). It's now back up to $24, and at that cost, I'd just get the Wingman instead.

I still like the Mini Suspension tools (or equivalent, Vice, etc.), particularly if you can find them for under $10.

For this price, you'll just be better with a Spartan or Tinker.

I have not had any major issues with my gerber suspension and I love it. Well, initially it made me wish I had bigger hands

I bought a knock-off the other day for $5 (marked down from $10) which resembles the suspension in most ways. Same tools, shape, size, weight and bulk, but without the internal spring in the plier, the tool locks or the same finish. It had only black paint which was chipping off with any amount of normal handling. I'm sure it came off the same assembly line as the Suspension.  It made the Suspension look grossly overpriced in my opinion.

If you get it for that prize, get it. What do you have to loose? I have a friend that loves the tool. He says it has saved the day many times. He is mercedes enthusiast, and goes around scrap yards picking old mercedes parts. He has left Wave on shelf and uses rather suspension.
I have suspension. I dont use it that much, and i havent broke it yet. I say it is ok tool when you dont have something better with you.
Someone should send Suspension to Jothra, and let him do his 30 day challenges.

Or are someone of you ready for that challenge?

I have just received a Gerber Crux, light blue handles, and i really like it. Well built. Go figure blades have almost zero play!

I own a Gerber Suspension, and the nearly identical Bear Grylls Ultimate Multi-Tool.  I thought it was a reasonable build, despite its excessive bulkiness and weight.  I am much less impressed, now that I picked up a nearly identical no-name multitool which is nearly identical in shape and function for about $5. It lacks only a few of the refinements of the Gerbers, such as the internal plier spring, and the fancier scale finish.  I'm fairly sure the blade steel quality is roughly equivalent also.
