first is who to play her and second is that they will have to clean her up to fit their audience that is partially kids. a lot of BDSM references in Wonder Woman

I think there is only one real choice for Wonder Woman, but they waited too long and now she's a bit old for the past.  Lucy Lawless was perfect for the role.  Hell, she was so perfect for Wonder Woman that she might actually be Wonder Woman's secret identity!

Of course we have Superman, Batman and Green Lantern.  Now we just need WW, Flash and Martian Manhunter movies so we can have a Justice League film.  :D

In marvel, it's pretty clear who their #1 character is: Spider-Man. After that, it gets a lot more iffy, IMO. But Marvel has done a great job of rolling out a sequence of films, to eventually form the Avengers.

DC has sucked at this. Unlike Marvel's questionable roster of heroes, DC has 'The Big 3': Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. This is an utter no-brainer. UTTER.

However, while the folks at DC have succeeded with Batman in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, that's done now. Christian Bale isn't coming back, and that makes Batman a non-certainty at this point.

Add to that the problems of rebooting Superman. The spectacular fail of 'Superman Returns', and the lower-than-expected success of 'Man of Steel' has made them wary. (However, with international box-office figures added in, it's actually a pretty huge money-maker).

If you want to add to the issue, how about the abysmal 'Green Lantern', a movie that barely made back its budget when international box office was added?

So, what they're banking on is 'Batman vs. Superman', and building the Justice League this way.

As for 'who'... I think people get stuck on Lucy Lawless, or the idiotic notion of Megan Fox. Do what they did with Man of Steel (AND the original 70's Superman). Go find a mostly or completely unknown. Get someone who can pull the part off, not some big name people expect.

Also... for your horror... Made during the popularity height of the 60s Batman TV show.

And... as an apology for that last video...

Lucy Lawless as (the voice of) Womder Woman, in the incredibly awesome animated movie 'Justice League: New Frontier'.

I think Gina Carano could be a very good Wonder Woman.  I sure liked her in Haywire.

Lynn, I agree with you completely.  I would actually prefer to see a non big name actress who is right for the role rather than a big name, and I only put forth Lucy Lawless as pretty well the only logical big name choice.  I actually thought Joan Laurer might also be a good choice but she's a bit too bulky and probably a bit busy with her new career doing porn to jump into a big name role.  Plus if her bit part on 3rd Rock was any indicator, she can't act.   ::)

It's funny- twenty years ago Marvel was the one that couldn't make a decent film to save their lives while DC had the Christopher Reeve Superman movies and the Micheal Keaton Batman going for them.  All Marvel had was that awful Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren and Lou Gosset Jr and a horrible Captain America movie starring... no one.   ::)

About the only success they really had in live action (the less said about the Spiderman live action TV show the better!) was Bill Bixby and the Incredible Hulk, ironically their biggest current failure in the current generation of movies.

I think if I had to pick a named star, I'd go with Charlize Theron. She's proved her acting chops to me in 'Monster', and showed reasonable promise as an action star in both Aeon Flux and Prometheus.

Two movies I disliked and one I never bothered to see....  not a great resume in my opinion!   :ahhh

I actually do like Charlize Theron, but I just don't see her as Wonder Woman.  She doesn't really have the presence.  I keep going back to someone like Cher, Geena Davis or Sigourney Weaver, all of whom I could have seen as Wonder Woman in their prime, although I readily admit that paper was barely invented when Cher was young, let alone comic books and the WW character!  :P

Shes a little on the skinny and feminine side to play wonder woman I think.

And so the debate goes on... been so near yet so far for ages :(

Lucy Lawless would have been wonderful, as would have Terry Farrell about 20 years ago!
Currently, I just can't see anyone as being right for it. The pilot with Adrianne Palicki was awful!

Thanks for posting that vid on my FB Micah

I don't think there'd be anything wrong with a mature WW character, in fact it might be more believable than a young girl.

I'd throw in Jaime Murray as a good option, altho I admit she's a bit older and thin for the character, but I really liked her as Helena G. Wells in Warehouse 13, and Stahma Tarr in Defiance.

When you think about the physique of Wonder Woman it wouldn't be such a surprise if they perhaps went The Rock way, i.e. a female professional wrestler

Yeah, WW is suppose to be some 6.5 feet amazonian warrior, seeing a 120lb soaking wet girl playing it and simultaneously beating up 5 men twice her size is just weird.

Same goes for other action movies too.

I do somewhat agree on the physicality aspect, to my mind WW should definitely be well toned and have a presence, though not so much that she appears to be a professional body builder.  No super-skinny girls for this role IMO.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Then perhaps they would dip in the growing women's MMA

Lucy Lawless
Cory (you know which one)
Drew Barrymore (cute and hard looking)
Michelle Rodriguez (why can't she be Latino)
Kristen Johnston (third rock from the sun)
and more
These are all alive, sexy, can act a bit, under 100, strong looking, I would be seen with any of them in public no problem  :D ....

I've seen some other folks suggest Gina Torres. If this was ten years ago, I might be onboard with that suggestion.
