Multiple magnifications (3 different), in a SAK ???
on: October 07, 2013, 10:04:25 PM
So, as I was driving along today an idea popped into my head from nowhere. Has anyone attempted to put two Mag glasses alongside each other in a single SAK ? That way, one *might* be able to get three different magnifications out of the two lenses, depending on their differing magnification powers, and focusing parameters.
Since I don't have spare Magnifying glasses handy, I'd need to break down two SAK's just to even check the feasibility of the project, but the idea sounds pretty cool...........even though it may have limited utility (to me).

WHOA! that's a great idea! I just pulled out my Explorer and Swisschamp and doubled them up, it's TOTALLY doable. The result gets VERY close.

I guess I was wrong and someone else did mention it before. Still a awesome idea though.  :tu:

Maybe that can be a use for the 30 or so odd mag glasses I have that few people ever request in mods.  The all plastic all clear ones seem to get little love.

Neat idea too... what If I put 10 together, would it make a super laser?

Lol. Don't leave it out, it'll burn a hole in ANYTHING with candle light!

Maybe it can be used a fire starter if a flashlight is shone thru it.

Two lenses, if correctly positioned, would act as a microscope. We could have a magnification of 24x, I guess (8x plus 4x). It would be awesome for some people :-)

This thread reminded me of the Telescopic Ring

What if both magnifyers were in the same layer with a way to rotate once opended and one of them with the ability to slide for focus adjustment ?
