Another flea market find(s)
on: October 14, 2013, 06:51:56 PM
I was out at our local flea market yesterday and located two items.  One was a schick de razor - in decent shape.  These were produced in volume in the 70's so not really collectible however I wanted one to use so that worked out well.

The other item was a small penknife in quite decent shape.  Photo below:

The smaller blade is marked K238 Germany.  It's very thin and about 3.25 in. folded.

I have another premier knife (a 3 blade) marked K81 Germany - it was my Dad's from years ago.  The small plate on the side is marked "premier lifetime" whereas the one I bought yesterday has no marking on the plate and "premier" is stamped on the blade.  Dad's knife is not in as good condition:

I've done some searching on the net and it appears that these knives and a lot of other models were made in Germany and mainly marketed in Canada - from about 1921 to 1955 or so.  The two I have are well made and attractive.  I don't know what the numbers stand for (other than a model number) - if anyone has any more information I'd appreciate knowing.

John.

Sparky - thanks for the link.  I had found a rather lengthy thread on another forum but lost it - it is now found again.  It discusses the premier knives at length in case anyone is interested.  Hope it's ok to post a link to another forum:

I have one. it was my grandfather's.  found information some years ago.  made in Germany, exported to Chicago  USA.  was also available at  Harrod's of London,  and could be engraved.   It  and the fish knife he also had were made of elk horn.   My grandfather started a moving business in Vancouver,  BC  1938?  may have picked them up when clearing out houses when people abandoned them and their possessions during the depression.  he also started going to auctions, not sure when. may have got it there.  It does not have a number on it. just says Germany on the blade.  It has silver on the ends and the label on case of the knife is also silver.   you may have found more information by now, but thought I would pass this information on.
