Detron's Rough Rider Stonworx Peanut
on: November 08, 2013, 04:33:19 AM
Slip Joint happiness on a budget!

So I bought the Rough Rider Stoneworx Peanut, and I love it very much.  I love it even more since it was only $13 shipped.

the handles contains actual stone and therefore "no two are alike".

I really like this look, and with this being so small, This knife will most likely see a lot of pocket time.

I managed to develop a love for Rough Rider Knives, not because they are the best, but they are awesome for the price.  if I was a richer man, Case might be my love, but I cannot justify buying a knife I do not need at Case Prices.  (even though I do it all the time for SAKs,   but they are more than knives)

so I think for this knife the pictures will speak for themselves.

Very nice.  :tu:  I have a Case Peanut in CV that sees a lot of pocket time.  It's a great little pattern.  As for Rough Rider, I agree.  They are excellent EDC slippies for the money.  Even with all the other (at times much more expensive) slipjoints in my collection, one of my absolute favorites is my red bone RR Barlow.  Such a great little knife, very well put together and nice to look at.  One great thing about RRs are that they are so inexpensive without being junk.  They're a great way to try out different patterns before committing to buying a more expensive version from another manufacturer.  With that said,  :pok: get to it!  :D

Thanks JD,  I do like Case knives, but they do cost more.

I saw!  There's nothing wrong with Rough Riders in my book.  I've owned at least eight or nine, and haven't gotten a bad one yet.  They make for great users.

I have a stoneworx texas toothpick, great food prep knife. Although I couldn't tell if the stones are real or not, when I scratched them it feels like plastic.   ???

Oh yeah, I could never keep the brass shiny... :(

http://blog.gatewayknives.com/2010/06/rough-rider-knives-stoneworx-series.html  from 2010 says:

Rough Rider Knives recently introduced a new series of pocket knives called the Stoneworx Series.  These Rough Rider knives feature custom handles of turquoise, mother of pearl and other stones. Rough Rider Stoneworx Canoe Knife The handles are individually fitted with the finest natural stone materials and each piece is hand-cut and hand-inlaid. Also include sculpted nickel silver bolsters.  The patterns of knives included in the series are the stockman, muskrat, toothpick, canoe, and more.  The Rough Rider brand honors the tradition of Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders.

See if you can find one from their Long Rifle and Rifleman ranges. they seem to have the best finish, especially on the bone (polished and jigged)
