My new SOG Power-Assist Frankentool

Firstly. You know what? I love it. :salute: It makes no sense what so ever. But I love it. It's huge! .
I guess it's built around the pliers, and they are fantastic. They are big and pointy and have plenty of cutting area. The compound leverage is a smooth operation. The steel is solid and well finished.
It's got all the tools you need for an urban environment, like the screw drivers and can opener. But they are very small. Particularly in comparison to the size of the tool. Which is similar in size to the LM ST300.  A big selling point for me was the V- Cutter. Nice but man is it small. And as I was fore warned, it is really hard to get too. So it and a couple of the other tools are going to become mod fodder. This should make it easier access the tools I need. The assisted blade technology works reasonable well and there is only a small amount of play once activated. It's a Frankenstein of a tool with warts and all in odd places, but I think that adds to its mystic. I have a few bad photos just so you can size it up compared to the LM wave.

Pro's
Compound leverage pliers very smooth
Ability to customize
Extremely solid but well finished

Con's
Ugly (in a beautiful way)
Poor access to tools and challenging to pull out one tool at a time
Less tools for the size compared to the competition

Nice small review. If it like a powerlock, it should be a nice tool. SOGs pliers are some of the smoothest I have used.

Nice review. I can also vouch that the PA is a pretty cool MT. It is much like the PL but has 2 assisted blades.

Yeah. You know I didn't think I was going to be an SOG kind of guy, but I think I am. The quality is way better than I expected. It actually has a very good selection of tools. I took the V-Cutter and can opener out but then put them back in. I think I need something in the space left behind. It has its pitfalls but I guess all MT's do.
I think I am going to start using it at work when I go back.

Exactly, whatever the make or model there is always compromise built in, the trick is to find what suits us best. I would say my Swisstool is the better tool probably without a doubt but I like SOG's too  :D

I think for me it's going to be some kick ass pliers and a knife, but its got the rest when you need them.
