Saved by my sog
on: November 05, 2013, 10:23:54 PM
My wife and I were loading the van with food for a family party. She locked the door thinking i had the keys. We ended up locked out of our house with no car Keys or a cell phone. The wife went to a neighbor's to use a phone but no one answered. So with no other options i pulled out my multitool which since I rotate them, it was a sog power lock. I used the screwdriver to pry at the window. Took about 50 minutes but I got the lock to pop and opened the window. I will say my hand hurt like the dickens from those gears but I was very impressed with that little screwdriver. It bent like spring still and never broke or took a permanent bend. Plus since i knew it is replaceable i had no fear of using it hard. It is a tough tool.

I love stories like these.  Also helps that I've done this to myself twice and had to use whatever MT I had on me at the time to break back into my own home ;)

Nothing like a good story with a multi and some crime in it. Even if its breaking into your own home.

I'm glad you got back in. I have a mail slot so I stick my arm in the mail slot and unlock the door. The problem is then my arm gets stuck in the mail slot.

Am I the only one who leaves keys to my house (extremely well) hidden outside so if I'm ever caught outside with everything locked I can get back in ?  I think the only way to get in would be through the roof as I have deadlocks on all doors and shutters and locks on all the windows so no "easy" way to get back in.

I thought almost all MTO'ers would "be prepared" ?

I have a spare set of keys with a friend down the road, and my landlord has a set too. That said, I'm pretty sure he's lost them since he's also my boss and they don't seem to be in any of the key cabinets at work.
