Is it me or digital tire pressure gauges are booby trapped?

Twice now, I've tried to replace batteries in digital tire pressure gauge and failed, with the same result. It was simple enough, a few screws, and a new 2032 battery. But both refuse to work after battery change, display 1 psi no matter what. I know I was careful enough to not damaged any components, but say even if I did, what are the chances I did the exact same damage to both?

I swear these damn things have been programmed to only power on once, and kill itself after battery replacement.  >:(

Canadian Tire specials?  :D

I have always preferred manual, mechanical type pressure gauges as the batteries never die.   :D

I've never changed the batteries in one!
Mad dad's had one for about 10 years now and that's still fine.

I never needed one. All the local gas stations have them where you can check your tire pressure for free and I pass two on my way to/from work.

Always used and still using mechanical (with dial). Good ones, not cheapies. Never been disappointed.

Where else lol.  They aren't suppose to have the battery replaced, but I'm cheap. :D

Guess I'm going back to the pen type, the dial type is kinda a pain to read.

I have a digital one that I've been using for probably 6 years or more and it's still going strong.  I have another digital one that takes AAA batteries, but I haven't really used that one too much.

We have one on the tyre inflator but I like the second opinion of something that hasn't been lying around on a farm for a good few years  ;)

The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
