You could use this negative event to  :pok: people about the importance of the operational funds.

I know that is not how you operate, but it would be funny.

You can always check our MTO Facebook group in an emergency, both for updates on what's going on and for your regular dose of plier based info.

That is true, and I didn't think of that at the time as I was in a panic :ahhh  Ok, I wasn't exactly panicking.  JR and I were on Facebook though ;)

One thing about the shutdown, I did get to experience this LIFE thing everyone keeps talking about.

Yeah, a lot of sites would use a ploy like that, but to be honest, this issue had absolutely nothing to do with the amount of money we have or haven't collected.  It was a glitch in an add on to the forum that makes prettier URL's at the top so that search engines find it easier to catalogue us.  The glitch was that it created too much information for our backup storage which crashed the whole server.

That would have happened no matter what, and Whoey is constantly doing things behind the scenes to improve the forum in various ways.  I hate asking for money when it's required, I sure as heck don't want to push for donations when they aren't an issue!  :D

For some reason, I haven't joined the MTO facebook thing. Maybe I should. But then again, that would require me clicking a button or something equally difficult. :D

EDIT: Done. Joined the MTO facebook group.

We did have a chatroom/box on here for a while, it wasn't worth it.

That being said, if the server is having issues that's not going to work either so it's better to have alternatives like facebook or google+ for alternate means of contact.

Or MySpace, never forget MySpace, wait forget about that.

My only interaction with Facebook is deleting the weekly mail saying that I have more friends than I think (currently 0 friends on FB)

Doesn't work!

I have an account but don't use it. It's just there in case I need to get in touch with someone who does, and I can't get hold of them via other means. I have unsubscribed from as much crap as I can, and I still get the BS messages about pokes, people wanting to be friends, new messages (that don't exist) and other crap like contacts posting photos etc to try and lure me back in. What the dumb smurfs don't seem to get is that being an invasive PITA is what makes folks like me not want to use them in the first place.  Just like Google they try and hijack/invade every part of your electronic usage, which is why I avoid them wherever possible. Socially acceptable malware is still malware.

Bottom line, you can't fully opt out of emails unless you delete your account, and I dare say they'd still continue after that ::)

Ah, MySpace.  I had a MySpace account a few years back after it had been the big thing for a good while.  Never used it either.  I just recently got onto Facebook after years of avoiding it.  I was thinking that if I never used MySpace, why bother with Facebook.  Then someone convinced/pestered me until I decided to get on.

I get a weekly email about pages I manage, and that's the only email I get from Facebook. It's the only one I don't mind.

Cheers Micah, I've already altered everything I can from the notifications section on the account settings. I'll try looking for the "unsubscribe" options on the emails themselves, and see if they get the message that way.

I missed the site while it was gone.  I had nothing to do.  I've tried other sites but the feel is so different and wrong, it's hard for me to read through anything.   Sure, they have good, knowledgeable people on those sites but I have trouble finding a single thread that I could read without encountering some attitude or reference to attitude and so it makes me sick.

I'm glad the server wasn't down too long.  I don't post that much here, just seem to stay busy.  I read a lot of what's going on and I'm glad that I can do that without building up my stress level from reading something posted by someone with a lot of attitude.

Thanks for keeping this place friendly and knowledgeable.  :)

I'm willing to work on a monthly, weekly or annual plan- simply pay out the estimated posts for the term you wish to cover and at the end I will either charge or refund the balance based on actual post count.  A small administration fee will apply... :D

Ok I'll settle on $1 per post paid at the start of each month, but I get a banner under my name that says I'm awesome. Also a $3 charge for every post I go over my limit. Deal? :D
