Yes and no, the handles had the same look like the blade and tools, so I decided to get me a Cerakote finish but I don`t know how durable the Ceracote is.
So I microblasted the handles again and gave them a finish with ceramic beads and next week DLC again :D
This Rebar will be a real nice one :D

I gather the DLC doesn't interfere with the pliers pivoting ?  So is there some way to keep it out of the moving portions, or is it so thin it doesn't matter ?

Looks very cool so far, I can't wait to see what the finished tool looks like  8)

Yes the DLC is very thin, two thousandths of a millimeter (2µm) and it has no effect on the pliers pivot. The pliers work really smooth after the coating :tu:

I will trade you my BO Rebar for the DLC one at no charge! Ain´t that nice of me?  :D
Looking really good! The DLC finish seems not only more durable, but much looks smoother that BO  - Or is that only a question of the surface quality before coating?
Swiss BO tools look smoother than LM or Gerber BO tools, too?!

Right, its a question of the surface and of the base material, steel is the best....the harder the better. Aluminum is to soft, you only get a mat black......or you have to polish the Aluminum.
I have coated a Leatherman Mini for a friend too, have a look:

Btw.....I would trade the Rebar for a Leatherman MUT :D

I`ve finished the Rebar today, everything works and looks great except the scissors......I used a spacer till I have a idea how to attach the scissor to the Rebar. You remember, I used the Rebar awl for my ReWave and like to add scissor from the Wave for the Rebar.
Here are the pics:

So, for the next LM Mini I`ve got new screws. The old ones were hexagonal and the new ones are octagonal, I think those look better :)
The coating will be golden TiAl handles and all the other parts in DLC black, I think that looks nice :)
The only problem now is.......I need a LM Mini for the new screws  :(
