Michael Schumacher in critical condition
on: December 30, 2013, 05:25:56 PM
http://www.dw.de/concern-for-michael-schumacher/g-17330214

I heard it on the radio earlier today.

Apparently he hit his head on a rock whilst skiing.

I hope he pulls through. That is no way for a man like that to go...   :salute:

I read about this yesterday afternoon. Last I read, it seems like he was pretty banged up but is going to make it.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Looks like things are far more serious than originally thought

Can't say I was a fan of the man in any which way,but I do hope he has a full recovery!
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

The original reports said he was conscious and moving on his own after the accident.  Turns out those reports were wrong.  :(  I don't follow F1 at all, but I hope me makes a full recovery.  :salute:

I hope he pulls through, without permanent brain damage.

Some say he walked away from the crash with minimal injuries, and, that if he dresses in a completely white outfit and helmet, people call him The Stig.  All I know is, I hope the man recovers.

Disturbing news... apparently skiing is more difficult/dangerous than driving a F1 car.

He was the driver many loved to hate, but speedy recovery.

it is sad to see that, two and a half years later, Michael Schumacher has not made any progress.  They are saying that he probably won't last much longer.

Sad news indeed.

sad for his family. Seems counter all logic that falling with a ski helmet could come out so badly.

Just shows how lucky Massa was when he got that bolt in the helmet a few years back...

The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Indeed.

I have mixed feelings about helmets, but I generally wear them when in doubt, but I don't fool myself into thinking they will do more than provide the most basic protection.  In cases like this, maybe they are worse than the alternative.  Sonny Bono didn't have a helmet and his end was swift, versus the Schumacher situation, which has got to be immeasurably harder on his family.

However, Massa is alive and well, with an impressive scar to attract women (at least those who are attracted to such things) and he would not have been without the helmet.

Some say helmets make you look like an idiot.  I look like an idiot anyway, and feel that a large dent in the side of my head wouldn't help matters so I usually wear one.

Helmet is good for your head, bad for your neck. Massa was also wearing a neck brace (HANS device), which may have made the difference.

As for the Schumacher situation, it is always hard to judge from the outside and with so little information. I wish the family all the best and hope they have the strength to get through this.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Cute, but that is more of Jie's style than mine.

I have been wondering how his recovery was going, although I absolutely respect his family's preference for keeping the press' nose out of it as well.  When the news broke that he was walking I was thrilled.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/news/a30845/michael-schumacher-cannot-walk/

Unfortunately that does not appear to have been accurate, and for that I truly feel horrible for Michael and his family and friends.

I hope that he is making some progress and my best wishes for his full recovery go out to him.

Absolutely.  And I suppose nay progress is good progress, but it is still very sad to hear that he isn't walking yet.

This is really difficult for me, I'm a huge fan, and I doubt in my lifetime there will be any other sports person I'll idolize like Michael Schumacher  :salute:

With all due respect to his family, I want to know how he's doing.

I DON"T need or want to see photos of an emaciated and bedridden hero, I just want to know........
