Two TTi duds in a row...?
on: January 09, 2014, 04:37:09 AM
Some bad luck has struck me it seems. I ordered a new Charge TTi recently, and when I opened it up I found the handle scales to be loose, and the blade's edge bevels much more uneven than I've seen before. I requested an exchange, and sent that one back.

The replacement arrived today, and I was surprised to find another tool severely lacking in fit and finish. The pivot on the main blade and file was so tight I could barely open either. I tried some Nano-Oil, and that did nothing. I then noticed that the plier pivot was oddly loose. Usually there is some firmness or stiffness and I like that. However these were floppier than a Swisstool. I tried cutting some fine wire, and was pretty miffed to see the cutters binding up.

For kicks, I played around with the rest of the tools to see if my luck would get a bit better or worse, and ended up finding a pair of scissors that barely cut copy paper.

This tool is also going back for an exchange. It's more time effective to get another replacement, and I'm curious to find out about the third TTi that will soon be on its way to me.

I felt like venting about this. :D

Not sure...but I sent them a firm but professional email voicing my concerns.

Got the other replacement today. Third time was the charm, this one is pretty darn good.

Woot!

Thank you gents. :)

Oddly enough, I've been playing around with it and realized that as awesome as it is, I don't love it as much as my Charge AL. So, the TTi will run back up, and I bought another AL to sit pretty in the clam pack. :D

And also picked up another BO Blast... I have a problem...

The Charge is their top of the line MT. Sad that their QC is lacking on the most expensive models.

I've had a couple real bad issues with Leatherman QC. The good news is once certain people up the ladder found out it got sorted real quick. At the end of the day Leatherman took care of me and that is what really counts. Every one makes mistakes its what you do to fix the problem that speaks volumes about your charactor.    :)

I won't be getting a new Tti until I'm sure they got all the bugs in production out.

come on Leatherman. I was just starting to think you have fixed your QC problems.
