First, yeah, that was a good price.

Second, I LOVE the farmer. I got the plain silver ALOX. I seem to be one of the few folks who like silver ALOX better than color. While the wear on color ones has a certain charm, I prefer the clean, sort of 'ageless' look of the silver.

I have mine in our 72-hour emergency kit. In essence, my husband's 'bug out bag', along with another MT (currently my Spirit X).

Don't think the saw will get much use but you never know! Love it so far I'm working late shift so that paired with my wave will certainly see some use!

I just ordered 2 farmers ($30.17 each, from Amazon). One I will modify swapping the main blade for a genuine Victorinox grafting/budding blade (I hope I can pull this modification, which goes with my profession as horticulturist) and add scissors. I'll keep the other Farmer stock, in my BOB-backpack. :tool:

You gotta love a Farmer.  While my favorite factory-made Farmer is the red one with brass liners, the tough-as-nails Scibeer HA farmer in the middle of the photo is the only 93mm SAK that finds its way into my pocket (often).

I think it needs to be made a forum rule, that we all own at least one Farmer
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Courtier (rushing in) "My Lord, the peasants are revolting."

Aristocrat (sniff, sniff) "They certainly are."

the best part is the thicker blade, and the spring seems more sturdy

A Farmer was my 3rd Alox, I got a red Cadet, then a SI and then a silver Farmer which I bought a mate for in the form of a Pioneer. Since then I have also got a black Farmer to pair with a black Pioneer and red "old cross" Farmer and a pair for it too.
I have a second red old cross which I modded to be a Farmer plus Scissors. That is a nice carry SAK.
I also have a Electrician Plus which is the Electrician blade version of the Farmer. I'm sure that "Electric Farmer" sounds better than Electrician Plus.

The Farmer was the first Alox model I started collecting around about the time the red and blue ones where about for a decent price...had quite a few from the limited runs as well, all sold on now due to money troubles
Just picked up a vintage farmer with an 85 Soldier blade in trade :tu:
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
