Well I bid on a 125th/Jubilee Spartan

And on closer inspection, it's definitely not a Spartan.  It's got no opener layer, and it's not listed on SAKWiki in the 125th anniversary section, or by Victorinox in their promotional ad for the 125th gear.

Come to think of it, this layout of knife isn't listed as a regular production model on SAKWiki either.  91mm, single layer, small blade, corkscrew.

Here's the listing.  Notice that the seller pretty explicitly describes the knife as a Spartan.  I like the knife and I'm happy with it as is, Spartans don't really do it for me next to a Climber, Compact, or Trail Guide, but should I mention anything to the seller?  They usually have good listings.

Interesting.  It might be one that someone made themselves at one of the 125th Anniversary events, or a mod.  good find either way.

I thought that might be a possibility, but it seemed like a lot of work, to take apart one of these just to remove the opener layer from a Spartan.

Those are the same scales as on my 125th anniv. Climber. It's one of my favorite SAKs.  :D

Hi Ng Vi
You might want to ebay PM the seller and mention that the knife is not a Spartan and to query whether he knows anything about the provenance of the knife. Just for interest.
Not worth negative feedback, a return, or a price reduction in my opinion

Because ... You do have a 125 Anniversary model - ie you have the scales and the etched blade.
And at that price - I'd say you have a great deal.

As ICanFixThat said maybe it was made at an event. There are a couple of great videos on youtube of people making their own knives at trade shows
Or maybe it was even made at Ibach during 2009 - As I think you can make a knife after the factory tour.

Its all very interesting!!  :)

PS. I assume it is a 91mm knife - If 84 - It would be a Gourmet.

Thanks Huntsman!

Yes it's a 91mm, and I almost want to get reckless and turn my Trail Guide and this into a 125th Anniversary Trail Guide.

And a Marlboro 91mm Gourmet.

If you do that you might have piece of mind knowing a little more about it once you see them rivets.... but it might be nice just to never know for sure and keep it as is.  At least keep it for a while and see if another ever turns up.
