Flashlight for Pops
on: February 20, 2014, 02:08:56 AM
Honorable father is looking for a two times AA light. I have narrowed it down to:

Fenix
  E25

Nitecore
  MT2A

Solarforce
  T2

I haven't seen much on the Solarforce but it seems to be a great light for the price. Due to lack of information on the last light I'm still a little undecided what to pick. I like sideswitches but by some reason I leaning towards the MT2A over the E25.

So, of you could provide me with some info on the T2 or just help me choose between the three I would be eternaly grateful!! :tu:

p.s. I do realise that there is a fair amount of difference regarding outpus and blinky modes, UI, runtimes and etc.

I don't have an E25, but have both an E21 and a LD22G2, and I don't think you could go wrong with the Fenix.  I'm afraid I don't have any experience with the other two options.

Last year we bought a HL21 by Fenix. It is a very simple, yet incredible headlamp. That is why I'm having such a hard time choosing.

p.s. to the smart guys (and girls) here: don't come with the "buy all three" advice, that is not going to work!!

While I don't have the Solarforce T2, I do have one of their other lights and I have to say....meh.  Everything works, don't get me wrong, but it's not the same quality as you'll get from Fenix or Nitecore.

A good 2xAA light I'd recommend you look at is the Eagletac P100A2.  While I don't have this specific light I do have a couple of other Eagletac lights and love them both.  The P100A2 gives a very strong high and a lower general purpose level, and that's it.  Simple. 8)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I've given away a couple of Fenix E21's. Solid light. I prefer tailcap activation to side switch.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Solarforce are excellent little lights.... Being that I use 18650 batteries, the P60 work well for me....

I don't see anything wrong with any of your selections though... They are all highly regarded established light manufacturers.

  Thanks for the inputs fellows!!

I didn't even considered Eagletacs. I've been eyeing their EDC series for a while but for the moment they're a little out of what I can spend.

I've given away a couple of Fenix E21's. Solid light. I prefer tailcap activation to side switch.

Personaly I don't really have a preference. Most of the our (my family that is) lights prior to the "Enlightment Era" (Raiovac, Caughlans, etc.) are, yes some are still going strong, side switches so I'm sort of used to them.

Solarforce are excellent little lights.... Being that I use 18650 batteries, the P60 work well for me....

18650 wise I've thaught that, at some point, the Solarforces would make a good entry level light on this category. The Legoability, affordability and etc caught my attention. I'm a little undecided in regards to the T2 because of the lack of reviews on this particular light.
