The Randall That Started It All.
on: July 05, 2014, 02:55:23 PM
Bo Randall, the founder of Randall Made Knives, identified his knives with a model number as well as a name. This is the Model 1-All Purpose Fighting Knife.

It could be argued this is his most famous knife, since it was his first design. This knife has seen service in WWII,the Korean conflict,Viet Nam and every action since then.

Bo Randall has always given preferential treatment to those men and women who serve in the armed forces of this nation. The shop continues to carry on this tradition. For instance,if a soldier or sailor is being deployed the Randall shop will fill your order and get it to the service personnel before their deployment.

I've been fortunate to be able to collect two Model 1's.

These knives are equipped with:

Stainless steel blade 8".
Nickel silver double hilt.
Red and silver spacers.
Leather/Black micarta handle.
Nickel silver butt cap.

The leather handled Randall has a waxed sheath, whereby the leather is impregnated with wax, making it impervious to water. The micarta handled Randall has a stained black sheath. They both have a pocket, stitched to the front of the sheath, for a small sharpening stone.

The Randall #1 is one of my all time favorite knives. My first Randall was a #1-7 w/ O1 steel, black micrata, brass guard and my name was stamped on it. When I ordered it in 1979 the wait was only one year.     :)

A few years back I was tempted by the Cold Steel version, but I knew id always regret not getting the original article ::)

OMG you ordered a Randall in 1979?

Just out of curiosity, what was the price back then ?

Allow me to guess the price,$175.00 ?

The base price of the Model 1 is $375.00 and it takes four years to complete your order.

If you placed an order today, with the required $50.00 deposit and you put $7.00 aside a month, you would be able to pay for your Model 1 by the time the order was completed.

Just some food for thought.LOL.
