Old Wenger Phillips Driver
on: March 16, 2014, 08:56:23 AM
I've not seen another SAK with one of these drivers before so I thought I'd share.

This is one of my dads old SAKs that he gave me when I was a kid. Probably because I'd nearly buggered it using the saw to help build tree houses and doing things kids do like using the knife as a screwdriver :s

The driver is a really good idea. I don't know why it's not used more often. Get rid of the stupid little knife on the current models and just have one of these with a file on the side.

I think I now have maybe 4 of this model. I agree, they are a neat, and useful tool, much more useful to me than a second, small, blade. And, they allow for a very thin knife that can do almost everything that the Vic Explorer can do, except for the magnifying glass (a small Fresnel lens will fill that gap). This model is available with plain, half-serrated, and fully-serrated main blades BTW.
With a Wenger that doesn't have this flat Phillips driver, you can make the Can Opener into a decent Phillips driver too, see here:

Oh that's a very cool idea.
