Show off your fat SAKs
on: March 16, 2014, 08:52:54 AM
Swisschamp and Cybertool 41 are my biggies. The Swisschamp I've had in the rough area of 15-20 years? The Cybertool was a recent purchase.

They are fatties but I like knowing I have the right tool for just about any job. Before I started using Leathermans I used to carry the Swisschamp as an EDC tool. Nowdays often I'll have one of them in my backpack as a Leatherman backup.

Does the left most one (the biggie) have both the old AND new style magnifying glass? Or am I not seeing that right?

That must weigh a bit in the old pocket  :D

Yes, it has them both.
I don't pocket carry it but it feels surprising light. You see the dimensions and are prepared to hold a ton but the additional tools (Cybertool with plastic bit holder, plastic LED light, Plastic lens, two tiny blades and a slim coke spoon) are lighter than the Swisschamp's standard tools. It is the next model of Reiner's XXLT, with the Swissflame lighter (that fat tool in the middle you asked for) removed.
The XLT is higly usable and I EDC it. It is a Swisschamp and Cybertool combined, without double tools and with additional Electrician's and Prunner blades, plus a spatula (coffee stirrer and scraper for me, but I like the coke spoon mental image). A great tool.

Ah it's a lighter. Thanks for that. Could actually be quite useful, and it's backed up by a magnifying glass you can start a fire with easily too.

It would be great if it worked.
Compasses, rulers, lighters and led lights on SAKs have their problems.
A nice seath (Skinth?) with a SAK, a ruler/compass (Recta from Vic), a ligther (Bic is nice) and a LED light (Maglight) is better, and you'll be not afraid to use your SAK near or under water.

This is the cleanest, smartest and most harmonic SAK ever existed. Kind of a BBSAK.

Syphs bladed wonder is always neat to see.  I sure like my little chubby SAKs as well as my bigger ones.  My Swisschamp is my off day carry while it still has a broken plier spring this tool could really stand on its own tho I choose to pare it with my Japanese PST these days.
