One would think with her past she'd be incarcerated awaiting her court appearances but what do I know.  I'm really confused about the dog issue .  Most in my area have pit bulls for one reason and its for protection.  There was a fatal mauling not long ago when a pit bull killed a next door neighbor and badly mauled her child.  The owner was charged as well as another person in the home.  If there is some documented case(s) one would think something would/could be done.

It so unfortunate that you "have" to move to get peace but I'm glad you are able to.  I am happy your new home buying process is going well.

The police just left.

I had to call them because the neighbor's dogs had pulled down the gate in their chainlink fence, and were wandering around out of their yard.

By the time the officer arrived, the dogs had both returned to the neighbor's yard, but charged us (the officer and me) when he pulled up. I pepper sprayed the dogs and they returned to their yard.  Idistracted the dogs while the officer replaced the chainlink fence gate.

(sigh)

But... we're moving soon. So I guess soon it won't be my problem anymore.

If it charged the officer, wouldn't that be enough to get rid of the dog?  I don't want to see a dog get put down, but what if that happens again, and instead of it being adults it charges, it's kids?

So, I was washing a plate after dinner, and... the smaller of the two pitbulls was out of the yard again.

What the???

So, I stood there, watching her for a minute, and she crawled back under the fence gate. Then back out... and back in again. Each time, pushing against the hinges of the gate, forcing it up a little each time. So, that's how the gate got off the hinges. I called the police again.

While waiting, a couple teenage friends of the older kid (17 or so years old), come out. Turns out the mom is in Virginia, or West Virginia, couldn't get a straight story. But certainly NOT appearing for her court cases around here. Son wasn't home, daughter wasn't home.

Officer responds (for the SECOND TIME tonight), talks to the teens. One of the girls says she was bit by one of the dogs a few weeks back. Animal Control is coming tomorrow.

Moving soon... moving soon. My new mantra.

We were about to go to Home Depot for a few odds and ends for the new house, and the neighbor's gate was off the hinges again, and their dogs wandering their (and our) front yard.

Called cops, and went on about my business.

This sucks mate. Its suprising that they have stayed so long. In Australia, feral smurfs like this are generally supported by public housing, which has a nice high rotation of tenants, often moving them on after a few complaints. That way if you are unlucky enough to get whitetrash next door, you generally get an eventual reprieve, and hopefully a nice quiet immigrant family or aged pensioner, who also use the service, moving in next.

We've been out of the old house for months now. By and large, my old idiot neighbor is a long-forgotten horror of the past.

It's very nice. The worst animal problems we have now is a persistent barn owl that insists on hooting at 2 AM, and a neighbor who mows his lawn 4 times a week. All quite tolerable. :D

I hope you don't have to go through bad neighbours again Lynn. enjoy a peaceful time... the owl will be a hoot!

I may be new here but I can relate... im stuck between a drug addict (possible dealer) and a family that practically run a chop shop the other side (with a vicious dog). police wont do anything neither will the council.

Locked up for murder seemed like it was creeping up too close to reality for my comfort. As for cancelling your favorite soap opera, I feel like someone just cancelled my live-action version of 'Cops'.

And I'm okay with that.

There are lots of places around here where there are wildlife areas designated as Prairie Reclamation. There's almost no actual prairie left, so the conservationists are trying to reclaim areas for it. That's how I like to imagine my lawn. It's not 'overgrown', it's 'prairie reclamation'. :D

My husband thinks otherwise, and likes to keep it well cut and trimmed. Suburbanite! :D

And MORE drama.

We drove by the old house the other night, and someone was parked in our driveway. The VERY first time I met my idiot neighbor, she was parked in our driveway. I told her not to park there anymore, and especially not on Saturday, the day we were moving in. She was parked in our driveway on Saturday. That was my very first encounter with The Stupid.

I have now installed 'No Parking' and 'No Trespassing' signs. They won't help, I'm sure.

I just have to put up with this long enough to get this place sold, then, I hope she will disappear from memory.

EDIT: I guess, at least I got to use my Wave to cut the wire I used to hang the signs.

Obviously you don't want to agro them any more than needed as who knows what damage they'd do to your house... but it'd be awfully tempting to get a wheel clamp and lock down any car parked there...  >:D

Of course the obvious solution is to call the scrappers and say there's an abandoned car on your property and you'd like it disposed of.  >:D

but yeah, that might cause agro and damage to your property.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
