Given the mild weather and clear skies, I though I might see what it's like taking a walk when it
isn't cold/wet/snowing. Turns out it's quite nice actually.
Headed South a little ways and spent a few hours bumbling around Glentress forest.
Lunch Time!
Spot the wildlife.
My only peeve is that the area has been totally given over to mountain bikes. I'd looked up some nice seeming walks around the area and decided one of the marked trails looked to be about the right length. Getting there I found that NONE of these trails were marked any more and that all the markings had been changed to accommodate bike routes. Now, I had a map and compass anyway and found my own way around, but I was using paths that weren't on any of the cycle routes and so they had
nothing indicating "nice walk this way". I've absolutely nothing against mountain bikers, the ones I met were all unfailingly polite and friendly, but I did feel like a bit of a pariah by not having a bike with me.
