Mora Fire Knife
on:
May 10, 2014, 12:23:58 AM
Due to a lack of funds I've bought no new multitool for quite some time now ... So last week my boys gave me a surprise present, they had noticed that I had been looking at the Mora Fire Knife every time we visited the local outdoor store, so they (my wife being an accomplice) decided to buy it for me with their own piggy bank money ...
No need to say that I was over the moon, so a big thank you to my boys
.
I had been thinking about buying a fixed knife for some time now, I took a look at the Gerber Bear Grylls ultimate survival knife, and the Camillus Les Stroud mountain survival knife, but they both looked a bit too tactical for me, and they cost about twice what the Mora Fire Knife costs.
And I must say, the Fire Knife looks great, it feels very comfortable, has a great fire steel (can't go wrong with a "Light my Fire" firesteel), and the sheath is great, no bells and whistles like the other two knives I've mentioned, just a simple, strong, and very safe sheath design.
So, here are the pics
.

Great story. While I don't have a Fire Knife, I do have both a Mora and a Swedish Firesteel, and both are are quality pieces of kit. It should serve you well.

What a great family you have
. I too have been looking at a camping knife and the fire knife is on the top of my list. I've seen enough video reviews to assure me its a great knife and yes cannot go wrong with a fire steel built in. Congrats on a awesome family first and a super cool gift. I cannot wait to hear of the adventures to come.

If I was into bushcraft, that is what I'd be wanting. I've got a few Mora's and the blade sharpness is surreal.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Very nice gift and thoughtful!
How does the modified Scandi grind works out for you? Is it much difference in terms of use or maintenance?
