I had actually been interested in EDC topics for a long time before I had ever heard the term. Unfortunately, I was also the only person I knew who seemed to have that interest.

Knowing nothing, I bought a cheap no-name multitool at Walmart one day a few months ago. That tool was terrible, but it did make me want to see what else was available.

A little Googling for multitool reviews brought me here. A little reading here led me to SOSAK as well, and by that point I was hooked.

I'm glad Dave told the story, because for the life of me I couldn't remember how I found it in the first place. But, in my defense, I was probably drunk!

I don't recall exactly how I got here back in September 2006 (member #27). Enthusiasm is contagious and I enjoy the enthusiasm MTO folks have for multitools.

My son got me into Blade Forums a long time ago,all I did was read them,and in there MT forum they mentioned MT.O,and a quick link to it,I read every night for about six months,then I made my first post,and the rest is history.

Well, one day, instead of wasting time on my tech forum, I decided to seek out information about multi-tools, specifically information on the electrician's bear jaws. Well, as luck would have it, I found the website with all its reviews, and after I had finished those, I noticed the forum. Not only did I find a place as obsessed with tools as my fellow tech's, but an board that is active and very easy going. Too many boards out there have such terrible politics and crap, this place feels more like home.

The reason I got into tools was because I was fired from my old job in demolitions where I screwed up real bad and accidentally built something...

Found this forum when I started to have an obsession with keychain tools. Had been reading multitool.org for quite some time before deciding to post my first msg. One thing led to another, now I've doubled my number of SAKs (yes, I ended up registering at SOSAK too) and carry a Leatherman everywhere I go.

I was mostly hanging out at Bladeforums a couple years ago when some guy with a tongue twister last name invited me to stop by here for a visit. That was in Sept of 2006. The place wasn't very impressive back then. I can remember The Great Multitool Picture Thread being only two pages long. (What is it up to today?) There were only a handful of guys posting at first, but everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Not only was there no flaming going on, as others have mentioned, but every reply was cordial and considerate. Each time a new member said hello pretty much everyone would chime in and encourage the new guy to come and join the discussions. It was that atmosphere that I enjoyed then and continue to appreciate to this day. Lets all resolve to maintain that friendly spirit as we continue to grow.

I found this place while searching for reviews on the KF4. I had been a part of some MT sub-forums before, but this was definetly a much better place for dedicated MT discussion.

The open-minded aproach to different brands/tools that def & co. established made it a good place to stay.

I found it after I Googled some multitool and one of Defender's reviews led me here. The overall kindness and professionalism of the moderators and the generosity and gentility of the posters kept me here. I found MTO by clicking on a link over at SOSAK. This is the first forum I ever participated in and I have to say that it has spoiled all the rest. Things were pretty slow around here when I first joined. Most days there were only 10 to 15 posts. How times have changed. A big thanks to Def and all the mods for making this place a great and friendly place to come to every day.

That's so funny. I used to Google "Leatherman" at work (faster downloads) and I'd always get these gay biker pics mixed in with the multis. I don't know whether the other techs thought I was shopping for a tool or a "tool"!

THREAD NECRO!

I was thinking of starting another "How did you find us" type thread and thought it might be fun to just revive the old one. As you can see, this is a pretty old thread- started way back when Multitool.org was only two years old!

Some of the names are still here, some are gone and in the interim a lot more have become well established here, so I thought I'd bring this back up and see if we can get an idea where the (relatively) newer folks came from!

Before joining MTO, I was already a member of BF, EDCF and CPF. MTO came up in a few google searches when I was researching new tools.

I wasn't going to sign up with MTO as I was getting disillusioned with the forums I was already a member of. Glad I did though.

The reviews came up when I researched multi-tools. As Millhouse I was already member other places, but I signed up without thinking too much about it. I had also discovered SOSAK back then. As time has passed, I dropped out of several forums, but recently became active here, because of the great SAK activity and the fact people here seem nice.

(Also, this site isn't too much of PITA on cause of ads and weird interfaces only designed to maximize the number of page impressions.)

I originally found this site a few years earlier by accident. I did not go into the forum section however, contenting myself to reading the official reviews from the main site front page area. Then my father passed away, and while I was cleaning out his bedroom, I noted that I had a sizeable collection of multi-tools. I was a bit staggered at how many he had squirreled away all over the place. I wanted to find out more about them, and cruised the web site looking for information. I re-found this web site but did not join right away, as I hadn't found the forums section as of yet. I made a decision to continue with my father's starter set, and in honour of him, to conscientiously start collecting multi-tools.

At the time, there wasn't much info to be found online, even less pictures. I picked up a few pieces locally and decided to re-examine multitool.org in greater depth as it seemed to have the most information out there. I found this forum section and signed up once I figured out I could take photographs and post them in here. Several thousand pictures later, I am still here, and still collecting items. I must admit, collecting and photography goes hand in hand for me.
