My first MT was a SAK knockoff.  It was one of those that has a symbol on the scale that looks a bit like the letter Q.  I must have been 11 or 12 and was given it as a birthday present.  Later on I bought myself a real Vic Executive.  My first pliers-based MT was a ... wait for it ... Sebertool M4.  That was a great gadget to fiddle with, but not too practical in the real world.  Before too long I broke it.

First off, thanks for the great giveaway!  :salute: :salute:


My first SAK, I got when I was around 14 years old, on vacation in Switzerland. I'd been interested in knives for a while, but without a lot of money, and other problems like that, I never got around to getting anything. Then, I saw a Wenger Ranger (the one with a saw and the pliers, an original 120mm one) in a store, and I thought it'd be a great souvenir as well, so I got my first SAK :)


My first plier-based MT came a few years later. At seacadets, a few friends had been showing their LM Waves (the new version), so of course, I had to have one too. Got it for my 16th birthday, I believe  :tu: . I lost that one, sadly... Probably at the bottom of a lake or something.  :facepalm:

My first SAK was given to me by my dad when I was 6. I can't remember the name but it was like a Spartan but with the economy scales and no T&T. I loved that tool and still have it, used it a lot and carried it with me everywhere.

A bit later I bought a PST knockoff from Woolworths for about £1 which was crap, then got a CT29 and then aged about 20 got my first Leatherman, a Kick.

I'm still having firsts, I've got a guy staying with me at the moment who brought me my first Nylons scaled SAK, and I can see what all the fuss is about  :tu:

In the Navy, I was given a Gerber Mr. Pinchy, I loved it, but did not become obsessed until I found Chako's Drawer shots will researching for a new MT LAST SUMMER.  my how things have grown!  I ended up getting the Surge, and now, I have a nice little collection that I love to admire.

I recall having an SAK growing up about eight years old (model is escaping me) and getting it for Christmas. I learned a valuable lesson about sharpness when I cut myself in the middle of my pointer finger when I opened it. I carried some variation of a pocket knife through high school. My first Leatherman was actually a Crater C33TX which I lost and kick myself for doing that. I had a Lowes Kobalt brand multitool for a bit and then moved onto a Wingman, then a Crater C33, a Juice and Freestyle, then to a Skeletool and Victorinox Recruit and now my current combo is Skeletool and a Micra.

My first one was Japanese SAK knockoff. It was decend quality knife. All my life i loved knives, and specially folding style knives. Early 2000 i bought for my father, for his 50 birghday with my brother, Leatherman Wave. Soon after bought myself knock off of Wave. Used that thing like mad. Started buying knives and tools, and got myself a Leatherman Fuse, soon after Vic Deluxe Climber. After these, many many more quality multis.

And beware. End is nowhere near...

Other than small pocket knives and a small Wenger I picked up somewhere but rarely carried, my first real MT came from this forum (I forgot who) over a year ago I believe, and it was NIB. Gerber Crucial w/ corkscrew in green/black. It does have some interesting features such as the belt clip, OHO blade and the CS. A bit thick for in the pocket carry but a useful set of tools for my needs.

Awesome giveaway!  I've got a penknife that my grandfather gave me with similar sentimentality, it's still around here somewhere.  I keep it sharp but I don't use it for anything.

My first SAK was a no-name thing I bought from a gas station as a kid.  My friends and I used it to make forts out of sticks in the woods near our neighborhood.  Fish scaler and awl blunter than your entire leg ahoy!  I wonder whatever happened to that thing.

My first MT is the Skeletool I still carry today.  I still haven't found one I like better.

It wasn't you. ;) You just copied the already "damaged" list. :D  An entry was added a few posts before you where the number was not in the correct order. Might cause confusion later on so better to keep an eye out for such things. :salute:

Hello, A GAW is a really cool idea. If possible I am in. My dad gave me his SAK champ when I was 10 which he had abused but still worked fine. It was my first multitool, and started the ball rolling.

My first multitool ever was a victorinox German army knife ,I love the thing I cut through a lot of sticks with the saw but after nearly 30 years hard use(not from me it was given to me by my boss who runs an army surplus shop) (they stopped making them in 1985) I think it needs a rest it sits in my drawer now , I also own a micra ,surge and the newest one, the victorinox hiker its great!

Very cool way to do a giveaway Breezy :tu: I've won more than my share here so I'll give others a chance. My story is that I had a couple of cheap knives when I was in scouting as a kid. I got the Mr Pinchy when it first came out but that was an utter failure. I eventually got a PST a couple years later and the rest is history, the addiction began.

After hunting with a good friend (who was much older and wiser then I) for years, we started fishing togther and i noticed he used a wierd tool on his belt to remove fish hooks. After finding out it was a PST and buying my first Kick, it was all she wrote. A day does not go by without my trusty LM on my side.

My gateway was a cheap SABRE barnd knock off SAK that I got as I kid.  I ahd a few classics get confiscated at concerts throughout my youth. But it wasn't until about 4 years ago that I bought my first 91mm Vic, a Huntsman then that led to a New Wave, S2, Super Tool 300, Skeletool CX, Rebar, Fuse, Kick, Blast, countless Vics, etc... and the Saga continues...

I found my first and only SAK at the drugstore I was working at in Alabama back in the mid 90's.  Don't know where it went.......  My first multi was a POC  Pro Case PST knockoff.  Little did I know it was a gateway drug....... :rofl:
