I have a Queen Country Cousin on the way.
Any advice to offer regarding proper care and treatment with a D-2 edge?

I have a Queen Cutlery Whittler with African curly zebra hardwood in D2, and do like it quite a lot.
In terms of D2 steel, if it is a big knife(5"+), then I'd say baton with care since they tend to 'chip', but otherwise, for folding knife use, nothing in particular.

I was mainly referring to sharpening techniques.

I've got a Queen #32 Congress in D2. It takes a bit longer to sharpen than, say, my Case CV Trapper, but it's not too difficult. Keeps that edge for quite a while during normal use as well. Congrats on scoring a nice knife.

Is this your first Queen? I'm going to get a Country Cousin at some point, though with my Sodbusters I've already got the single blade slippie requirement covered. Not that that's ever stopped me from picking something up before, but still......

I used to have a 1977 case ss locking sodbuster but sold it.
This is my first Queen knife. The only other single bladed non locking folder is a Victorinox Gardener with Stainless steel and a chiszel grind

This Queen Country Cousin has proven to be a very slow sharpening process. This is my first attempt at creating a convex edge with wet/dry paper and a mousepad and my first experience with D2 steel.
Right now it is sharp enough for the edc rotation but I wouldnt use it to skin an animal. Not sharp enough
I will still work it with 1500 grit and strop to finish.
It will probably never be as sharp as my Opinel or Mora Knives
