Long story short. My wife went to US for work for a couple of days and in haste I ordered some(a lot) stuff from Knifeworks to be send to her hotel. While ordering a Gerber Dime that I never got around to buy I saw theese ugly two tools that I´m been curious about for a while.
I haven´t found much info here or elsewhere before. People seemed to buy Guardian Knives but not the MTs.
They were cheap around 12$ each so I got both guessing there was a small difference between them.
I actually like Gerbers smaller tools like the clutch. I wasn´t expecting much knowing that it´s most likely a Chinese tool.
But I was underwhelmed nonetheless. An overall feeling of poor quality. It feels like it´s made from really cheap soft metal and like I could brake the tools with my fingers if I tried.
It makes squeky noices from loose plastic parts when opened. The tools spreds like crooked teeth. And the spacers between the tools are so thick you could easily fit a number of more tools. The tip of the knife is blunt.
Size wise they are bigger than the dime but the plierhead is the same size or a tad shorter but a little wider. The jaws doesn´t open as much.
There is no differences between the models just slightly different texture on the plastic scales.
They are not worth 12$ they are up to par with cheap tools you can find for 3$.
Is there a good part ?
Well the pliers are not so bad. Quite sturdy, the tip aligns. There is actually no play in it and when I tried it on some thicker paperclips it could handle them when the Dime failed.
And maybe I am the only one who was stupid enough to buy them so eventually they will become collectibles.
