I'm not worthy to follow those beauties but I'm proud of my mod nonetheless :). I call this one E.R.N.E.S.T. (Emerson Repair N' Emergency Sharpening Tool). It's got everything I need for maintaining and sharpening my EDC folder in the field. I've even got the magnifying glass for inspecting the finished blade edge. If I had to do it over again I'd probably skip the corkscrew and move the awl to that outside spot, but I'm happy with it either way. This is my 3rd mod and I learn a bit more each time about what I want on my EDC SAK. At this point it's complete enough that I'd honestly rather leave home without my Emerson than without my Vic.

It's black oxide, called hot bluing. I think Victorinox was doing the same oxide in e.g. Sentinel or Trekker. :tool:

Awesome mod DumDum! I was planning to do the same with some Alox scales, albeit more low-tech. I was just gonna spray them with black matte rustoleum  :D

Wow hot black oxide. Very nice. Matte paint don't work :(. I've already tried it. I wish they made a paint that would actually stay on.

Hmmph, that's a bummer. There's got to be one, I don't want to have to resort to making my own little anodizing station at home  :ahhh

Here's a nice SAK that I modded

I put a deep carry clip and made the rescue blade a wharncliff shape.

I sold it.

I will make one like it again one day but with a tip up clip. :sak:

Rahmed, those scales look familiar!  :D  Looks like you put them all to good use.  What are you using for a plier spring?  Is that the stock one from a 91mm?
