Thanks mate

I just noticed that the serrated blade is the wrong side of the nail file in that first pic ....

Anyway, not an issue, it's only v1 :D I'm planning on taking it apart again at some point to do a bit more refining. I'm hoping v2 will have most of the wrinkles ironed out so I can have it exactly as I want it at v3  ;)

I still don't like the combo tool.

Need to get another Deluxe Tinker.

I don't mind the combo tool if I've got it paired with a pliers based tool with a robust flat driver. It's a better cap lifter than the standard one, and a couple of times in the kitchen I've chucked aside the modded Vic Skipper that I keep in the kitchen drawer, and grabbed the MFV that sits next to it, as it does very well on any can that doesn't seem to like the standard Vic opener. (it seems some cans prefer one, and some cans prefer the other)

My main issue with the combo tool is that it displaces the pen blade, which is my main utility blade, and probably my most used tool on a SAK.  I also seem to do more prying than driving flat screws, and the combo tool just isn't up to the job most of the time.

I've just built a Pioneer mod with a 91mm pen blade in place of the can opener - this might be enough for me for the most part.

Fully understand the prying aspect, but I tend to always use the main blade. I always consider the smaller blade as redundant (unless it's the serrated main and pruner blade combo), which is one of the reasons I started getting into the Wengers

Why not lose the combo tool for a pen blade, then? Carry it with a standard Pioneer and there's that.

Alternatively, interested in trading that :fugly: mod to me? :gimme:

I also use the pen blade quite a bit and don't get along with the combo tool.

I've seen several acid etched and stonewashed sets of scissors in this thread. How do you do this without the acid getting into the pivot and messing it up? Can the same be done on the pliers? I know people use fingernail polish to protect blade edges but I'm just not sure how to protect inside the riveted scissors pivot.

Pretty sure they just take them apart then re rivet them when they are done.

Is that a Ti 111 with a pocket clip? German Army Knife?

I want it so much.

Yes, it's a GAK with 09 stamp. I modded it for a friend from Poland

ALM, great work as usual.  I'd love to know more about your method and techniques.  Would you be prepared to share some photos or information on the way you make the knives, particularly the ti scales and the fine engraving/machining on the scales?

Could you make some scales and pocket clip for a "friend" in the US?

Sorry for late reply. I don't like showing WIP photos, because I like when photos are "clean". You know, the workshop can be in an artistic chaos, and I don't like photos like that. I do a lot of things myself, i.e. the finish of titanium scales (grinding, drilling, polishing, sandblasting, stonewash etc), making muffs and rivets, modifying springs and tools, anodizing the titanium etc.
I also do the computer designs myself.
But I also outsource some things. Polish knifemaking scene is pretty large and we help each other. For example, I don't have a CNC milling machine and if I need one, I ask my friend for help. I order coating with HAII, PVD or Cerakote in specialized companies in Poland. The engravings are also ordered in a firm with an industrial grade laser of great power.
As to the question if I can make scales and clip. I don't usually sell just the scales. The scales I make are matched with screws and muffs, that I mount. If other rivets/muffs are used, there could be problems with fitting.
And here are some photos of TiTool Pioneers, that I've done over the weekend. Regards for all, Artur.
