Like the names guys. I am planning to work on one of those master rangers of yours soon Poncho. Just need a donor in line awl. Great mod with excellent tool set.  :tu:

Thanks pa :hatsoff:

I actually have another Champion to the point of having it apart, ready to make another Master Ranger but I haven't been able to source a another in line awl either  and I can't make myself drill out a serviceable alox that I already have to get one either   :ahhh I also need a main blade for the mod but might try to fit the floral blade from the grafting/floral Vic knife :tu:

Good luck with the mod of your own :salute: :like:

Since I am limited to a SAK and a fixed blade for the next week at minimum,  I decided to carry this mod I did a fee years ago

The Master Ranger  :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

It is a Champion without scaler and small.bkade removed but an inline awl added in  Then I put those translucent blue, plus scales on it :dd:

What would the easiest way to get to this point, but minus the wood saw as well?  I like the metal saw/file still there, and the inline awl.

Thanks!
My Mods: 58mm Workshop, 91mm Picnicker, CyberCompact
Some Fav's: long nail file models, vintage unusual stainless
Quirk: I like the metal file more than the wood saw

The Family Man

Having the technician’s screwdriver from the Automobile on my customized SAK was one thing. But having my favorite saint on the scales is something else! Took me a while to track down and finally grab an Automobile from eBay.

The name says it all. I needed an urban SAK toolset so I made something with everything I need and nothing I don’t. Replaced the metal file with scissors after seeing a similar limited run model. Kept the PAT stamped can opener and cap lifter with sharpened inside. I couldn’t be without a corkscrew for as much as I use it so I stole the double corkscrew/backside Philips mod using a fluted corkscrew and can-key Phillips. Really happy with the result - dad tested and approved.

Really nice job, looks really slick. I’ve just finished a baby version experimenting with the back side Phillips and corkscrew and the inline all. As getting the awl to fit wasn’t that difficult I can see me trying this more often...if I can get cheap donors of course! Lots of liners mods and spacers for this toolset. Orange peeler was modded form a 2.4mm main blade....I like a weird tool!  :o

Very nice.  What led you to adding extra blades?  Keeping a sharp one in reserve?  Did you consider a serrated blade?

Two equal big blades + little blade are sort of SAK standard for me. One big blade is always very sharp and is mostly for cutting wood. The othed big blade is for tasks, where cuttung edge is easily damaged - cutting on a porcelan plate, scrapping...
Serrated blade? I dont like them.

Got this 84 mm bundle off eBay (see pic below). Golfer had damaged back spring and broken scissor spring. Climber has weak opening layer and blade spring. Walker is perfect and bantam is good to go. So I broke down the golfer and climber to mix match what works and came up with this golfer variant with Phillips and key ring I had left over from past projects. To the best of my knowledge Victorinox never released this variation of the golfer. Let me know what you guys think.

Love it, it’s almost my perfect combo, I’d so go for a compact but with a philips on the back, that would be like the ultimate!

Been in the house most of the week in frozen big D. Texas is horrible at handling ice and snow. So I decided to finally tackle the Master Ranger mod of Poncho’s. He is working on a new one as well right now with a different master blade so I did the same. Tell me what you think.

Could someone point me in the direction of phosphor bronze washers for sak mods in Canada. I looked from a us manufacturer but the shipping was massive for the weight of a dime.

Any help is appreciated

I polished and anodized some Ti scales, and put together a bladeless Fieldmaster. I didn’t like the way the backside Phillips fit into the spring for the scissor layer, so I took it all apart again lol
