What I find weird is do these things happen often enough that they actually purposely built a stand to keep on hand?

I think it is a valid issue that has happened on occasion or at least once. Honestly a stand that cost probably a few grand to build is worth every penny not to crash a multi million dollar aircraft. The military likes to be prepared for anything. Just my opinion though.
