A bit more enabling......
on: July 04, 2014, 04:32:25 AM
This past Sunday, I gave someone I know their first real SAK, a ruby-scaled Spartan I had laying around.  We've talked knives before, and after he showed me a Chinese Swisschamp copy I decided to be an enabler nice.  ;)  He was playing with it for quite a while Sunday after it was in his hands, and tonight when I saw him he proudly pulled it out of his pocket and showed me that he's carrying it.  He's gotten some use out of it, including opening random cans around his house once he figured out how to use the opener.  He's also cut himself twice. :)  I've told him to take a look at the Wiki and the Swiss threads here, since it sounds like SAK #2 won't be long in joining that Spartan.  All in a days work.....  >:D

Great job!

some people do not know what they are missing with a Knock-off, and never would if it was not pointed out to them.  every store/flea-market/pawn-shop seems to have 50 KOs to every 1 real SAK.  once you know, there is no going back.  good job and I am glad this person seems to appreciate the change
If I can help, let me know

My girlfriend, aunt and best friend all called me knife-crazy, blade-wielding, money-throwing maniac.

Now my gf has a OHT, an Edelweiss classic and a Huntsman, my aunt fell in love with my tiny Blue Classic and snatched it and my friend has a Huntsman, an LM multi and wants to get 2 Climbers for him and his brother. Ow and I convinced my colleague to get a BG Gerber Scout... not bad for 2 months of enabling... :D

Your not wrong there Thomas! A couple of months ago,one of the younger guys(by his own admission he's not one of the young guys anymore ) at work showed be the MT he was carrying...one of those True Utility Skelitool type things. I really don't rate it,but it was the locking blade that worried me most...BenTen is of the right sort of demographics to get stopped by the police!

I gifted him the Spyderguppie I'd had kicking around the house. Every time, and I do me am every time,I see him,he's still raving about how great it is,and how much he uses it. It's a real pleasure having started a beautiful partnership!
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

If SAKs were as cheap as business cards, I would have large batch of Super Tinkers engraved with the MTO website and hand them out to potentially interested people. Maybe a Classic SD would be feasible. Hmmmmmm  ::)

I showed a coworker an apoc green pioneer. He instantly had to have it. So we ordered him one.
That was a couple of weeks ago.
We just ordered 4 more knives for him yesterday.

That's wonderful, but it's not enough just to introduce them to SAKs and MTs...

They must also be informed of MTO so they can get... the proper treatment  >:D

He opened a thread and started reading.  Suddenly he realized he was reading about himself! :D SAK #2 is coming shortly for him from what he says.  Mission accomplished! :tu:

Awesome!

I had a friend that downplayed the Wave I picked up, saying "I've got some multitools already" which were actually some Chinese knockoffs.

I gave him a Skeletool and he outright loves it now and wants to pick up a Surge. Enabling indeed.  :D

the sad thing is for every person I enlighten with the knowledge of MT/SAK awesomeness,  there are 5 or 6 that insist on ignoring the reality in their face.

there all like "the world IS flat"   and such
