Did you polish that PST by hand or with a dremel?
For those who are worried about what the coke might be doing to your insides, do keep in mind your stomach is full of acid already. Also, no-one has yet answered the big question; Pepsi or Coke?
NNR the tool looks better from comparing pictures. I think I'll try the coke/mountain dew rust removal technique on my next old tool. What are the date codes on the PST? I'd guess the rust sat for a while on the PST as it cause pitting.
Btw, offtopic: do you think rust can be removed if you boil a tool with... baking soda? I've seen this done and done it myself with silver coins and the effect is awesome. But will it work here...

Just get the tool wet and pour some baking soda out. Just slightly get the baking soda wet so its almost like a paste and use your fingers or a towel to scrub the affected areas.

I'll see when again I'll be in a mood to make a mess around..:D:D
I tried the apple cider vinegar challenge on an original supertool, the file was rusty as was the plier head joints were bleeding rust.I left it submerged for 24 hours, then washed it with hot soapy water, then used mineral oil and wiped dry.finally did a normal mineral oil lube job, and it seems great, except the extreme play in the plier head that was present before I started. it is not rusting now though
