The kicker is the corkscrew and the mini driver for my glasses.  The plus scale/pen option is a huge draw

I own 3 Alox SAKS   (bash away if you would like)
a silver Pioneer, an Olive Green Cadet, and a smooth silver Classic

these SAKS are pretty, and I like the feel of the ALOX,

BUT

the Cellidor are my favorites.  yes the 93mm knife is a little beefier, the large flat on the cap lifter is more durable, the Awl is sweet!!!  but that is all the pros I can find.

If I can help, let me know

I got to say this Steve

the fantastic plastic Saks work good but there is just something having the extra heft of a alox that makes them feel as good as they look.

I love my alox knives too, but in the end I prefer cellidor to alox for regular EDC due to the wider tool selection, and particularly the back and scale tools.  Of course, you've left out Stayglow (nylon), which is really my favorite...

I agree. Honestly I have a deep connection with both cellidor and alox models. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, but respect them all the same.  :tu:

I like them both. Alox offers the thiness so I love it ti be in my pocket and color Alox is beautiful and collectable. Cellidor is a real work horse. It provides more grip for the same layer of alox and temperature on scale won't be an issue when handeling it.

All my Alox are shelf queens. I can't bring myself to use them. Now cellidor, I will use every day. Alox is so pretty to look at, but not my cup of tea as a user. To me the 93s are outdoor top quality strong knives. I am more of a inside techie kind of guy. I guess I am closer to an Officer than a Soldier. That is why I guess Soldiers never had scissors in them.

+1  :tu:

"The alox range are our 'Soldier knives' -tough, slim, practical, limited toolset for easy cary.
The cellidor range are our 'Officer Knives' where we offer all the tool variations and larger size"

?? What do y'all think?
I can see that.  Soldiers need a practical knife, and Officers need to open their wine, and clean their teeth. :D

I am still trying to warm up to cellidor, but I am slowly getting there.  I never had much interest in Swiss Army knives until I discovered the Alox models.  Aesthetically, the plastic handles never interested me.  After spending time on this site and Bladeforums, I have begun to develop more respect for the cellidor models and the diverse set of tools they offer.

It has taken me awhile to find a cellidor model that feels right.  I bought a Craftsman just to be able to try all the different tools, but it is way too big for me to carry.  I next bought a Super Tinker thinking it would make a good EDC knife, but I still found it too bulky for my liking.  I found a good deal on an unused Tinker Small from the late 60's early 70's (square driver with file, clip point secondary blade, gold shield).  I bought the Tinker Small as a collectors piece with no intention of using it, but I was struck by the fact that it seemed to be a very useful size.  This week I bought a new Tinker Small to add to my EDC rotation.  So far I like it.

With alox models, I prefer the 93mm size, but when it comes to Cellidor, I find the 84mm size more to my liking.  They seem to be a little less bulky, while still being big enough to be useful.

I have both and while Cellidor is my favorite all my dailycaary ones have either black or red NYLON scales. I just got tired of the beat up way my cellidors would look after a few months in the pocket.

I generally like the cellidor or nylon scales SAK's better than the alox. My only alox is my old Wenger SI, and I find for general pocket use, it's a bit heavy. I like the recruit, bantam, spartan. One and two layers, and light, and with a second knife blade if possible.

Plus I feel the red plastic scale SAK's have a better reception in public due to instant recognition. Not something to be taken lightly these days. And I like how easy it is to replace scales, even with a different color.

Cellidor for me.

Nylon.

Dull, cheap, and scratch resistant.  Just like me.

Ditto that! I have been looking at alox models of late but I do like the backside tools (I used an awl last week) and for a new modder like me the cellidor means less worry when peening.

Plus more cheap mod fodder out there!

If you can only have one , it has to be
a cellidor version for the versatility.

For me the best is cellidor on key chain (Classic) and alox i the pocket. That way there is less compromise.

When size vs. utility are factored in, for me Cellidor wins out.  Plus, I just like its look and feel.  Nothing wrong with Alox, and I own plenty of them, but I want the tweezer and pen option whenever possible.  Toothpick I could live without.

More or less all was said  :D
Celidor rules:
Count me in - If Cellidor came with an in-line awl and the beefier blade I wouldn't look twice at Alox (although I love the look of my SI).
:o ;)

Or, as GigaHz pointed it out:
To me the 93s are outdoor top quality strong knives. I am more of a inside techie kind of guy. I guess I am closer to an Officer than a Soldier.

I do have one question about cellidor maintenance... somehow I've managed to permanently etch a fingerprint into the scale of my Champion. Any way to fix that or polish it out?

Metal polish (eg Autosol is a brand we have in Aus, Brasso in UK) is great for the scales.
Rub in firmly with a soft cloth then buff up.
Or a very very fine grade sandpaper (eg 2000) for deeper scratches, followed by polish.
They come up beautifully.

Here's a really nice restoration guide I found once on the net, which I think came from someone in VSAKCS

I just saw a new Vic at the show yesterday with what appeared to be dull, matte red scales. However, the crest was still crisp and bright. Is this something new? Seems to me it would stand up to daily handling scratches a lot more tastefully than polished cellidor.

Got a bunch of confiscated SAKs. I put 3 nylons and 4 cellidors up for sale.
All 4 cellidors got sold in a day. I gave one of the nylons as bonus.

The other 2 nylons are still around and no bidders. I will replace the scales with some beat up Cellidor ones I have around. Want to bet they will get sold in 2 days?

Nylon just feels dull and cheap to me and the shield that fades away in 2 weeks of pocket carry is a huge minus... For 111s it feels better, but for 91 it's just meh...

That's too bad, I love the nylon scales. Very durable, and solvent resistant. I wish the nylon was the standard scale material. Plus the pebble texture feels more secure in hand when wet.

Exactly.  That and the nail file hook, which is only available on the Compact as far as I know.  I know I've hounded on this before, but I don't understand why the nail file hook isn't the standard.  Probably a cost issue, but it adds so much without taking up any space.

Totally agree

And I like Cellidor and alox, but for EDC Cellidor with the additional tools without questions.

From a beauty standpoint, it's hard to argue with against an nice ALOX.  This is coming from a life long Cellidor lover.  The ALOX is just a gorgeous scale on a SAK.  That's not to say that Cellidor is ugly, but in a display case I don't think the cellidor can hold up against the Alox.

This is also not to say that Alox is not beauty.  I suspect that an Alox will also wear better over time.  My Cellidor scales that I EDC last a long, long time.  But if I had to pick just based on what I think would last longer... Hey, who would pick plastic over metal?

But... I still EDC cellidor.  Why?  Well... the same reason I EDC a sak instead of a "normal" folding knife.  I want options!  I want more than just a blade, I also want the other tools that a SAK brings to the table.  So in my scales I want more than just beauty... or brawn for that matter.  I also want brains.  I'd really miss my tweezers, toothpick, and even my pen on occasion if I switched to an EDC that was Alox.
