Hello there.

I suddenly stumbled upon this picture:

The same picture can be found on some webshops, usually entitled as "My first Victorinox". :think:

Is it a regular production model, or is it a mod?  ???

I'm thinking maybe its a mod.  Its somewhat like a Voyageur with a rounded main blade plus file (http://www.smartknives.com/Victorinox-Knives/Victorinox-Voyageur.htm), but not really.  Maybe a modded Cadet?

Yep, it also looks to me as a mod. A former Cadet.

Maybe someone did this mod, then the webshop smurfs stole the picture for their selling of the My first Victorinox model...?  :think:

For one second, I hoped Victorinox started producing the 84mm Alox with scissors. :(

Look at the pins- brass and it looks like they were hand peened, rather than being in the 25 ton press. But an amazing configuration for a first knife owner. Vic NEEDS to bring back 84mm scissors, and they NEED to expand the Alox line.

Most certainly a mod.  and I must say a nice and non threatening one for sensitive environments like offices full of wussy types who are afraid if anything as dangerous as a straightened out paper clip.

I made this one from an Alox Bantam and some leftovers to make a sandwich knife. one blade for cutting the tomatoes and one for spreading the butter. :)

@ironraven - that's what I noticed, too. The hand-peening, the tiny bits of color loss on the scales and the usage marks on the tools.

@PTRSAK- That's a nice, interesting mod!

Speaking of wussy types, few days ago my Tinker fell out of my pocket in hospital while I was showing the CPR basics to the other students. I heard the sound of something falling on the floor and then their voices: "Look...  :o He has a knife!"
:facepalm:
I quickly calmed them down by saying "Hey people, it's only a little Swiss army knife. Come on." Fortunately, they stopped with their staring. For one second, I had the feeling everyone's staring at me like I was some crazy maniac wielding with a knife.
