Question about Deluxe Tinker (Matterhorn) and Super Tinker (old model).

I happened to win a bid for a Small Tinker, Tinker, Super Tinker (old model), and a Deluxe Tinker (Matterhorn).

Does anyone happen to know how much the Super Tinker (old model - no parcel hook) or the Deluxe Tinker (Matterhorn) are worth?

I would like to know how much they are worth, and if I should EDC the Super Tinker or not since it is an old model.

I should have been more specific, but I don't know many details. It does not have the parcel hook that the current model has.

Also, and I don't know if this is helpful or normal, but the Philips head is not 100% solid like it is on the Deluxe Tinker.

That's a can key.

Probably the best way to do this is to lay them out and shoot good pics...pics always help with age/value questions.

Also, the Small Tinker and Tinker both have a can key.

Anything with a can key Phillips goes into my "collection" and I carry something a little newer...but that's just me.

Newer Super and Deluxe Tinkers abound on the the bay fairly cheap and in great EDC shape.

Only? I saw one sell on the bay for $65 or so. I have no idea how much the older Small Tinker, Tinker, and Super Tinker are worth.

The small tinker with the square Phillips and clip point blade seem to be worth the most, maybe $35. With the file even more. The round Phillips seem to go for $10 less. NIB is where the most money is. The missing hook doesn't seem to raise the price any. I would put the Tinker and Super Tinker at around $20 and $25. You need to get a bidding war going or let it sit on Ebay for weeks at the price you want to get. I don't know if Jazzbass tracks these models, but he  would have a lot more history on pricing.

One more identifier that I noticed: The scissors use a small screw instead of a rivet.

Differences that I have noticed so far on the older Super Tinker:

1. It does not have a parcel (multi purpose) hook.
2. The Philips is actually a Philips + a can key.

True those things make the knife rarer, but I don't think that they will add much to the value of the knife. It is hard to get a cellidor knife worth a lot of money. Unique metal inlays add a lot to the value. If it has unique tools, that will add value. 84mm scissors add a lot. If the knife is in current production, the older ones are usually worth less than what you can get a new one for.

IIRC it was around 1992 that the hook started. None of the models you mention seem particularly rare/valuable, but are very serviceable and useful knives, so my advice would be to enjoy them, ie: use them.

That's what I will probably do with at least two of them. The Small Tinker (old model) and Tinker (old model) I will probably sell.

Now I need to find another Deluxe Tinker Matterhorn to keep!
