That's a Gerber Multi-Plier version 5 (aka "Mr Pinchy" ) tool, but you are probably asking about the two-pronged implement. I was quite curious about it myself, so I'm intending on upping my current bid hoping to win it so I can see for myself. My current theory is that it is a golfer's divot tool, as the tips of the prongs don't look sharp enough to use as a fork.I have no idea whether it is a genuine Gerber component or a mod (I am guessing more likely a home-brew mod, as this is the only one I've ever seen, and I've been following Mr Pinchies quite closely for a while now). Anyone else have some thoughts/theories/ideas ?here's a link to save time for the curious: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201145004966
They never show the tool completely closed which leads me to believe it might not close properly and be a aftermarket addition.
I emailed the seller earlier today. What a nice bloke he is.They were purchased off a retired sales manager for Gerber. - so could well be a prototype!!
well, I have been outbid, good luck everyone!

Hmmm, maybe I should have put those in two different posts as to not offend you. It really wasn't meant to come out saying you bid just because it could be a prototype. And the second part was just me saying that I know who the high bidder is and a few of us here have bid on the same auctions beforeMy apologies

Quote from: bdAmmo on August 12, 2014, 03:03:07 AMAnd the second part was just me saying that I know who the high bidder is and a few of us here have bid on the same auctions beforeI'm sure it happens quite a lot. Quite a few of us are interested in pliery multitools, we cruise the same markets looking for anything interesting, so naturally we end up bidding on the same tools. As a recent example I've just been outbid on a NIB Gerber evolution MP650 (military), and at $265 you can be almost certain it was another MT collector, quite likely a member of MTo (or at least a lurker). Like Detron, once something goes above my budget I let it go without rancour, and I hope the winner enjoys it.
I personally think working to a budget is definitely the way to go....BUT.. That theory goes out the window when it comes to prototypes. If you miss it - that's it!! No second chances.....Its Gone!!Budgeting is fine when it's a fairly scarce model, eventually another will come along.MT'o has just celebrated its 8th anniversary. Yet no one has ever seen this model before....EVER !! And that's on a forum dedicated to MT nuts!!Chance in a life time chaps!! just sayin'

or he regrets his bid and wants to be outbid
Quote from: detron on August 12, 2014, 04:46:07 PMor he regrets his bid and wants to be outbid Nah, can't be that 'cause I'm still highest bidder (at this point in time). But he is thinking about outbidding me ......
Quote from: tosh on August 12, 2014, 05:42:08 PM Game on ! (actually Tosh has graciously stepped aside and let me throw a bigger hat into the ring. So we'll see what happens when bidding finishes). I'll let him tell everyone about his latest exciting purchase ........ the hint is "German sports car"

Quote from: gregozedobe on August 12, 2014, 04:43:26 PMStop that ! you'll make me re-think my maximum bid And I did, and this oddball Mr Pinchy is now on its way down-under (via Oregon) Anyone wanting to see photos should look at reply #8 on page 1 of this thread.
Thanks guys. I do like my Mr Pinchies (and old PSTs), so to get this one was great
