Holy Moly, what happened? I have been in that church for the Christmas service in 2003.
Earthquakes.  Christchurch is no longer anything like what you may remember.

I have lots of stories about it, but so far I haven't felt brave enough to share.
Uhh, that is sad. I'm just digitalizing images from our local Church where the nave was destroyed 30+ years ago, nowadays it pretty again, so keep the hope
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

The tan house is known as the Jenkins Homestead. The town of Lansdale where I live was incorporated as a borough in the 1870's and this dwelling procedes the town by about 100 years. The surrounding area was largely farmland in the 1700's. John Jenkins II was a member of the Continental Army and this house housed survivors of the war. I live not too far away from the Homestead.

This floating ball is known as the globe. It sits in the middle of a plaza next to the train station. A guy with a hot dog cart sometimes sets up in front of the globe on days in the warmer months.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Here's high falls, it's where the city of Rochester was built for the water power. There's also a lower falls. The pool at the bottom of lower falls is the ending point for annual salmon runs that are fun to fish at.

Thanks, it's kind of weird to be in the middle of the city and see a water fall. Lower falls has a dam on top of it and a hydroelectric plant. The plant isn't going to be running this year during the salmon run which means more water comes over the falls and the salmon like that. Fingers crossed for some nice ones this year.

Nice giveaway!  :tu:

I'm going to sit this one out, but thought I'd find a couple of pice off the net just to be sociable     Although I'm living "next door" these days, I still consider Sheffield to be my home town. Here's a few buildings that might prove interesting  :salute:

Lets start with a local icon of the steel industry, Sheffield Forgemasters. The largest independently owned forgemasters in the world.

They make some pretty big stuff ...

On the smaller end, here's Shepherd Wheel, and old waterwheel driven scythe sharpening workshop. The earliest known records are from when the workshop changed hands in 1584. When it was actually built is anyones guess. It continued producing till 1930 and became a museum in 1962

For pomp and ceremony for all the knifemakers, you'd need to go to Cutlers Hall

Or for somewhere more humble, try Sheffield oldest public house ... or at least a pub in the earliest domestic building in the city. Estimated to go back to 1475

Worlds oldest snuff mill still in operation

Europes largest listed building

The Town Hall was opened by Queen Victoria without her getting out of the coach, as she was still mourning the loss of Prince Albert

The UK's tallest university owned building houses the worlds largest operational paternoster lift (or elevator for our friends across the pond)

That's probably enough for now before I bore you all too much  :D

I took some photos of my own with the cell phone so please be kind but these are my OWN photos of some horse sculptures around town where I live now. This is only 4 of about 6 or more sculptures/statues that the city commissioned and placed around town at different businesses or public places. It was over 100° Fahrenheit(37.8° Celsius) the day I took these. There are a few more but did not get to them that day.

BTW, I am NOT entering the contest. I just wanted to post these photos here.
