Why not allow editing of threads?

I presume this is done for security reasons, but cannot fathom what these are?

A former member once had a hissy fit and deleted his account along with several years of information and pictures.

Yes blame the asshats that throw fits and delete stuff.   You'd think adults could act as adults but some cant seem to.

You do get some time, a minute or so I think, to edit your post. Also I think if you are a charter member you can delete your posts too, within a short time period.

The problem with being able to delete your posts, a long time after they are posted, is that it disturbs the whole flow of the thread (and threads here, admittedly, do get confusing enough on a regular day..)

If you look at some forums where you can do that you see threads that make little sense as people reply to someone who deletes his post and then you have no idea what was the original question.

I do remember the boat incident being mentioned, though it was before I joined.

:pok: You may also want to read some of the stickies on the break room, to get some more historical information on various issues.

The edit time is much longer, 3 and a half hours if I remember correctly from my pre-mod days.
The delete post function is available for just a few minutes though.

Also, the guy who lost things over the side of the boat isn't the guy that had a hissy fit and deleted all the info. That was a completely different childish son of a smurf.
